Baker College NET test

Published

Hi everyone!

I will be taking the NET at Baker this spring. Does anyone know if their test includes A & P?

They denied you twice with that gpa? That really sucks. I thought they gave you an extra point for the second time around if you did not get in the first time?

She must not have had all the NET points. My friend has a gpa at least that high, and her NET score only gave her 2.2 points, out of 7 possible. And it isn't just the straight GPA. They take certain classes, and weight others. Not as cut and dry as having a high gpa. CB hasn't given us all the information, so it is hard to know how that applies to the real picture.

Only a couple more weeks until the letters go out. I know the numbers of a few students, so I can get an idea of what the big picture is.

On another note my sister signed up for the surg tech program today... I am so very excited for her!

I got a 83 on my NET I can't remember how many points that added up to? But I thought I did good, but apparently not good enough. Oh well, I will get my RN one way or another.

But I have already talked to OCC and all my pre-req's transfer and I will only need 1 class for their requirements.

How do they determine the points? I thought the only points involved were for GPA, NET, not transfering from another school, no repeating of classes and an extra one of you did not make it the first time.

Your points are added like this: so many points for your certain GPA, points for what you got on your NET, and 3 points for not having to retake any classes.

Add them together and whoever has the highest points gets into the program.

Obviously each year will be different based on students applying and what they score on tests and so on.

Try not to freak yourself out. If it is meant to be it will happen. Don't ever quit trying to follow your dreams. I obviously could have said forget it, but I didn't and will be finishing next month as a LPN and going straight on to OCC and will be done before you know it.

Good luck!!

Oh BTW, you don't get extra points for not getting in the first try.

Unless this is something they just started this year.

If the system is the same then you had 7 points for the NET because you have to get an 80 to get all the points.

They take the 6 sciences gpas x2

They take the 4 others (math111, comp2, speech, psy) x1

Then up to 5 points for not repeating or transferring classes.

Then the bonus point for reapplication.

I have 22.14 point total out of 24 possible (before the reapplication point).

I heard that the lowest they took last term was a 20.22 points. My gpa is a 3.79 right now. 7 points on the NET. I can't imagine that I won't get in at least in the spring. I will have 23.14 points!

Shannon you probably have nothing to worry about. Just do your best. If you haven't checked out the revised health/science supplement yet, you can see they made changes to the classes they are looking at when figuring your gpa for application.

CB it sounds like you got a raw deal.

Wow I really misunderstood the advisor when I talked to the about the points. She made it sound like the no repeat thing was only 1 point. I am glad that I mustered a B- out of that sucky AP class I had instead of having to retake it. That system is really not fair to people that just have a tough time in a class and have to do it over again.

CB I have the LPN transition on my list of options in case I do not get in sometime next year.

Gem, I keep telling myself that the points could not have gone up that much since last acceptance. I have 21.5 you have 22.14. Lets just say that it went up a full point, we will be o.k. I am obsessing about this every minute of the day now. Why can't they just mail the letters!!!

Good luck to all of you! Waiting is no fun...I am so glad that I am not playing that waiting game anymore. It really does SUCK!!!! Did they tell you when the letters would be mailed out? A time frame? Anything? I know its hard but try to find a hobby or something that will keep your mind off of that letter! I know this sounds crazy, but what kept me sane and occupied is finding alternative paths to take to get my RN...I looked at a number of different schools both wait list and no wait list, at universities and private schools. I had about 4 different roads to go to obtain my goal and that made me feel so much better. Of course, you all probably have done this already wanting to be nurses and all LOL.

What is the Bridge program? I attend Davenport and they make it seem like there is no waiting list for the Pn/RN program but there is. Our last final this man walked in and said if there is any nursing students in here think about going into something else if you dont get accepted. I guess there was 600 applicants and they olny accept 30. I still havent heard anything yet. The hesi is a bunch of crap the advisors @ DAvenport (angel & Jessica) say that they dont look at the scores too much. They base it on GPA, recommendations, essay,Hesi. I got all A's and B's with working full time crazy hours. SO Im going to go to Flint's LPN program yea its alot of money 21,000 alot but if I dont get in to Davenports program I have no other choice and really dont want to wait another year thinking I might get in.I need to do it now. I wouldnt advise you to go to either DAvenport or Baker. Your credits wont transfer to a comm college the important ones anyway like A & P. Ive talked to the people at OCC,OU,MCC,St. Clair they wanted to to re take my A & P classes.

OK, the points are the same. It is 3 or 2 for transferring classes and 2 or 3 for not repeating classes. So up to 5 for not transferring or repeating classes total. (I was cutting corners in my explanation.)

24 points.

7 for the NET

12 for gpa (total of weighted and non weighted)

5 for above explanation

=24

1 for re-application.

I hope that makes sense now.

I am wondering too, does anyone know where Baker does their clinicals?? I haven't heard anything about where they usually go.

I know, I am hoping. I am really getting anxious too. I heard that there was a "nursing seminar" on Aug 13th, but I can't confirm it with anyone.

I just want to friggen know if I got in.

I am moving at the same time, so this will take my mind off of it, right? LOL
