Baker College NET test

Published

Hi everyone!

I will be taking the NET at Baker this spring. Does anyone know if their test includes A & P?

OK, I called the nursing office and they said that the NET is a paper test and as long as our address is up to date in the system we will get the results ASAP. We pick up the nursing application packet week 9 and in it we will have an application to fill out, a paper verifying our names and addresses, we will need a copy of our step plan, and a copy of our NET results and we turn that in week 10. We can pick up and drop off in the academic office.

Wow, thanks for the info!!

When I asked at the office they did say that there was going to be some science on it. The green paper they gave me says that there will be:

  • your science reading ability, comparing it against the level of mastery required for success in college
  • basic mathematics, the math necessary for you to function in academic courses.
  • your effective speed in reading college level material.
  • your study approach and your most effective learning styles
  • assesses your grammar, capitalization, spelling skills and your ability to organize your ideas in a written format.
  • your science vocabulary strength for biology, anatomy and physiology, cellular biology and chemistry.

The $15.00 pretest, specifically this one: http://www.eriworld.com/index.aspx . Really gave me a good idea of the reading, grammar and math. I happen to have the study guide put out by this company, and it is almost exactly like the test. I had gotten a couple of other study guides and one of them, has lots of extra stuff that we don't even have to worry about. I would recommend taking the pretest about a week before the NET and then going over all that you didn't know from that. That pre-test doesn't have any of the science stuff on it. But after taking all these classes I do feel prepared for most of it. Best choice answers, so we have to be able to critically think our way around the question.

I am nervous about it, but I was a lot more nervous before I found out that I only had to get an 80 composite score. I did 86 on the pre-test and I can easily understand now where I fell short.

And I would SO appreciate if you posted after your exam. I hate the first exam in any class. I am a little confused how we are going to make up all the time in our class. Now we have two classes less than everyone else.

My Pharm class was cancelled last night too. I wonder what is going on. Next week should be real fun!

Huh. And she didn't answer my email that I sent on Monday. I wonder what is going on.

If we didn't have so much to do in there, I probably wouldn't care as much. But we have that paper, the group presentation, plus all the tests, quizzes and homework due.

Thanks for letting me know.

So I will post after *I* take the test... like I planned to in the first place!!! lmao.

Regarding the Pharm exam. Notes were useless. We were able to reference our books on the exam. Be prepared to hunt through to find what you are looking for.

Did you take the NET yesterday??

Thanks for the info!!! No, I take the NET Friday. Did you take it? I spoke today with two people and they both said that it wasn't bad at all. Let me know when you take it.

I do know that when I took that pre-test, I thought that I was going to do well, and I didn't do nearly as well as I thought. It was deceptively easy for a lot of people or the average at baker wouldn't be 70! LOL

I did take it yesterday. Unfortunately we have to wait until everyone else takes it to get our scores back.. and then the woman said we wouldn't know if we made it into the program until the end of the summer. I am hoping that isn't the right information. LOL

I sure hope we find out sooner than that!!! O.K. I have read several of your posts (correct me if Im wrong) but you have four kids!!! How are you doing it. I am pulling my hair out with two and all of the studying. I sure hope we both make it into the program and this will all be worth it.

They take FOREVER to get the results to you. I didn't know for probably 2-3 mos.

Yep, 4 kids. 6, 4, 3, 1. ;) Technically, I have 5 kids, but I only have 4 living kids. My oldest would be 14 this year. If my oldest wouldn't have died of a brain tumor, I don't know if I would have been so serious about this.

They said we could get the NET results 2-5 days after the last group takes the test. So hopefully they aren't lying. LOL

Waiting to find out if we get in will be a killer though.

I am so sorry about your oldest child. I won't pretend to know how difficult that must have been. My good friend's daughter, Emily, is at Sloan Kettering right now being treated for a brain tumor (rhabdomysarcoma). She has been there since August. I have spoken to my friend frequently and it breaks my heart what they both are going through. Again, I am sorry for what you must have gone through, but now you have an angel watching out for you and your family.

We were in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins Hospital for about 5 weeks. Because of Emerald's tumor type there wasn't many options. She had an Glioblastoma Multiform at the cervical spine level. It had been growing down into her spinal cord, until the time it didn't. We had 95% of the tumor removed and in just 7 weeks it had grown into her her brain and she died 2.5 weeks after that. :( I really miss her.

I hope the best for your friend's daughter.

I found out Monday, that she had put the answer key on the back of the exam. Some of the students used it, I didn't even notice and I am hard of hearing so I didn't hear any of the comments about it. I couldn't figure out what the fuss was. Anyhow, I got a 90% and then she gave us 5 points to the raw score, so I got a 100% when it was all said and done. Thank goodness. I heard you guys didn't get your test results back yet. Did she say if she was going to post them in black board?

Based on how the test went the last time, I don't know how the next test is going to go, if I can't reference the book. The stuff on it was pretty hard to find unless you knew exactly where to look. I am a little nervous about it all.
