Hi ya'll-
Thought I'd get this started for the rest of us who, sadly, did not make it in for Fall 2010. I'm hoping to re-submit my application for Spring today (or this week). Does anyone know, do we receive the form from the nursing office? Or, is this something we should grab from the website?
My score upon re-applying will be 54.899. Dang, sure am hoping this will be high enough and get me in this round!
How's everyone else holding up? Did everyone complete the pre-req - 1105 already? I have not and won't (due to extenuating circumstances) until early Fall. Will this negatively impact my chances of getting accepted? According to Tammy and the office, no. But, wanting to get everyone's input. Hoping we will hear about acceptance by Sept. Does anyone know this date for sure? The application period closed July 15, don't know why it takes them so long to get this word out.
Anyway- good luck to you. This is my 3rd round of applying so I sure am ready to get in and get on with this career change!

Did you all get an email saying the CBC was clear and you are all ok to register? Also, I am looking at the schedule and I was wondering if it matters what teacher you register for at RR? Not sure who to pick for clinical/lect....
Nope, no email here. Did you get one?? I figured since Tammy was out of office until Monday we wouldn't get anything until at least then.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't gotten word on the CBC clearance yet. I was starting to get worried since they said it typically only takes 3-days to complete. Now I can start breathing again.

Oh sorry I guess I misunderstood your post. I got my CBC clearance on Tuesday after submitting it Friday. They don't send you an email you have to keep checking their site with your login as your birthday and SS number.
I thought you were asking about the clearance email from school. I don't think we will get that one until maybe next week.

I just got my CBC clearance this morning, finally, after ordering it on 10/1. I called them since it was taking so long and they said that the extra time was due to part of the clearance coming from L.A. Country, which is notoriously slow. Less than a minute after calling, the status changed from "in progress" to "complete". Yea!

Congrats!
Tammy emailed me back about the new TB requirements. Here is what the email said,
"Hi John,
I had to get clarification on this very question this morning. Even if a student works for a hospital they must still meet the new TB skin test requirement.
It is a new requirement from the hospital for all clinical students. It is actually a new test that must be given. The first test is given and then the results are charted two weeks later. If it is negative then you would get another test ( I believe in the other arm) and the results are taken two weeks later.
You can also get the blood assay test (QFT, TSPOT).I think the purpose for the hospitals switching over is that it will eliminate the false positive and false negative aspect of the older test.
Once you have this one done in a year when you need an updated test you will then be able to get the old 72 hour test.
I do know that Pro-med, Concentra and the Health Department are offering this new test."
Upon talking to my doctor, she clarified it even further. Pretty much just means that you get a regular baseline TB test. Come back 72 hours later and have it read. If it is negative, wait two weeks, come back in for ANOTHER TB injection and then come back in 72 hours. If positive on the second test, then you are infected. If negative for both tests then you aren't infected.

Congrats jschutze! I'll be at the CEC campus in the spring, but my Nursing Skills class is at RR and you're going to love it there. It's a beautiful campus.
