I'm a Fall 2010 applicant at ACC and thought it would be nice for all the Fall 2010 hopefuls to have our own thread to share exciting news, information, and support with each other.
I turned in my application last Friday (Dec. 18th) after taking the HESI exam. I feel good about my scores but I anticipate competition for the Fall spots is going to be quite fierce. After that large applicant pool for Spring I think we will see a lot of re-applicants applying with the 5 extra re-application points. Not sure what that will mean for the ranking scores but it will be interesting to see . . .
Good luck to all the Fall 2010 applicants!
Starting the spring application period before they send fall letters seems so inefficient -- most people waiting for fall will reapply for spring, then a good number of those people will withdraw their apps when they get accepted. That's a lot of extra work for a department that's already short-staffed, you know? I had no idea that ***** had resigned -- that's a bummer, she was awesome.
You'd think that since we have to wait so long, they could do us a favor and re-calculate our rankings with 1105 figured in.
I like the way you think, Purkinje!
Would be so nice to have our 1105 class counted! A bit of a long shot though, I suspect.
I think *****'s departure took them by surprise and with the addition of the Round Rock campus, it's probably just a really busy time around there. Maybe they will change the start date of the Spring 2011 applications so that they aren't bombarded with a stack of applications that they have to turn around and discard . . .

This wait to hear if we are accepted is insane! I know every other semester before us has gone through this too, but now that I am apart of the group, I definitely understand the tension!
I was checking out the Fall 2010 schedule this morning, mainly because my boss sat me down in her office yesterday with a pen and paper and wanted me to figure out all possible options for my work schedule if I get accepted. Many of you might already know this, but it looks like there are 170 spots for Fall 2010. 30 spots for the online/hybrid section, 40 spots for the new Round Rock onsite option, 50 spots for EVC, and 50 spots for CEC.
My boss was asking why it was taking so long for us to find out about acceptance and I literally had nothing to tell her. She was like us, she didn't uinderstand why it would take so long when we didn't have to go through interviews, letters of recommendations, and essays like many other schools. I told her it was totally based on a GPA/Point system. I wish they could just plug the numbers into a computer system, have that done in 2 weeks, then let everyone know.
Anyone else been checking their emails like crazy in hopes of seeing an email from the department??

This is my first time applying.
I started the Nursing Skills course in January.
I know many people who have submitted their applications for Fall 2010 who are applying for the 2nd and 3rd time. It used to be that with a strong GPA, HESI score, and all pre and co-reqs completed you had a very good chance of acceptance the first time, and definitely would make it in after a 2nd application was submitted. I think we have already seen a shift and will start seeing more and more people applying multiple times before getting in. Waiting for several semesters after initial application submission is not unusual for Nursing programs in other parts of the country.
Also as an aside - my understanding is that St. David's & Seton have both dropped their programs that guaranteed admittance to a certain number of employees from each organization. On the plus side, this will mean a few more seats should be available for the general application pool.
