education assistance
I know that UT Austin has a ADN to BSN for ACC students. If you make it through the nursing program with a 3.0 GPA then UT will transfer all your nursing classes and co and prerequisite without an issue. Here is the link : http://www.utexas.edu/nursing/academics/ud_degree_adnbsn.html Hope this helps

I know..... But the confusion is the GPA of the Prereqs..... if all the classes you made C's in does not give you a GPA of 2.7

Austin Community College - ACC - Spring '12 Hopefuls
I just have a general question...... So far I have A's for all my coreqs...... 2 C's for Micro and Anatomy and 1 A for Math (prereqs) It say that I need a 2.7 and C or better for my prereqs.... How is that possible? I am so confused and worried at the same time. Lets say I have 4 C's and 1 A will that do? Not that I am trying to do that. I have Pharm and Phys let to do and hope to do better. Any information anyone can give me I would really welcome. Thanks

I have a very general question. It says for the prereqs.... you have to pass with a "C" or better with a GPA of 2.7. Can someone please explain this to me? Unfortunately, I have 2 C and 1 A for my prereq and 5 A with the other classes. I am taking Pharm with Intro to Chem this fall to help me with physiology next spring. I am hoping to get atleast B's in the last two classes. Thanks for your help :)

I also did the fast track at ACC. It took me about 6 months of applying before I finally got a job at St David's Main. I love it. I am gaining critical care experience. I love the floor I work on. I work PRN so I only have to work 1 12 hour shift on a weekend a month. During the summer and while I will be waiting to get into nursing school I will work more. My manager told me she has 4 tech that just finished nursing school and she hired them as nurses. They hire from within. So do your homework and figure out which hospital you want to work for and just APPLY APPLY APPLY and someone will give you a chance. Goodluck to you.....

Here is the link to all the HESI dates and locations: http://www.austincc.edu/health/rnsg/HESI.php I am also down to my last year of co's and pre's. I never thought this day would come that I could say, "At the end of this year I will apply to nursing school." It been a long road. This year will definitely be the toughest. I am taking Microbiology with my elective this term and in the fall will take Pharmacology and Physiology. I got my CNA last summer and have an interview at St. David's next friday for a CNA position. I really hope I get it. I hear the best nurses are those who started from the bottom up. I want ever advantage I can get before entering nursing school. I wish everyone the best..... Keep moving forward and never give up :)

You can take the HESI 6 weeks before the semester ends. Also, you need to go ahead and start your immunization NOW. Hep B takes 6 months to complete. Hope this helps.

Austin Community College (ACC) - Fall 2010 Hopefuls
Okay I need some really good advise..... I am currently taking Anatomy. This class is kicking my butt. I constantly feel I am disorganized in studying for this class. I study about 10 hours a week for this class. Nothing I am doing is working. I have made 74 on my 2 lec exams and failed both lab exams. Seriously, I am not dumb but apparently something I am doing is not working. Several of my class mates are in the same boat and they already have a degree. Any advice would really be great. I really want to do well in this class and really want to me a nurse. HELP HELP HELP

I love reading all these posts..... I am a Fall 2012 hopeful. I know...thats a ways away.... Next fall I will apply to the nursing program. I am currently in Anatomy.... struggling a little. Way is it that all the non-science classes I rock in but Anatomy I struggle in? Makes me wonder if I am going into the right field. I want so very badly to be a nurse. Did anyone else find this class difficult/struggle but made it through? If so what did you do to make it? Congrats to everyone...... Perhaps we will meet in passing.
