Austin Community College Nursing Application scores
Can anyone who is in or completed ACC/Level 3 give some details/insight as to what it is like? Time committment? Are clinicals 12-hr days? Is it insane with two courses overlapping? Should we try to complete one course over the summer, so Fall is easier? Any insight appreciated from Level 3's!!!! Thank you!!

Austin Community College - ACC - Spring '11 hopefuls
Hi ya'll- Thought I'd get this started for the rest of us who, sadly, did not make it in for Fall 2010. I'm hoping to re-submit my application for Spring today (or this week). Does anyone know, do we receive the form from the nursing office? Or, is this something we should grab from the website? My score upon re-applying will be 54.899. Dang, sure am hoping this will be high enough and get me in this round! How's everyone else holding up? Did everyone complete the pre-req - 1105 already? I have not and won't (due to extenuating circumstances) until early Fall. Will this negatively impact my chances of getting accepted? According to Tammy and the office, no. But, wanting to get everyone's input. Hoping we will hear about acceptance by Sept. Does anyone know this date for sure? The application period closed July 15, don't know why it takes them so long to get this word out. Anyway- good luck to you. This is my 3rd round of applying so I sure am ready to get in and get on with this career change! Colleen

Austin Community College (ACC) - Fall 2010 Hopefuls
hi ya'll fellow 2010 hopefuls- i'm a reapp from the spring and have recently posted this info on a different thread. thought it might help some of you with the stress of "will i or won't i, get in??" i found out the stats for the past 4 semesters (see below). there was a significant jump between fall 09 and sp 10 (over 100 additional applicants with the lowest ranking at a 51, 5 points more than in the fall). of course, this would be the semester i apply for this is huge. what i take away from this is that the applicant pool is getting extremely more competitive (maybe due to a high # of re-applicants or a higher caliber student, who knows). but, my guess based on these results is that if things continue this way that fall 10 will only be more competitive (probably 52-54+ ranking being the lowest offered with more than 400 applicants). hoping they do admit more with the new campus opening. any word on this? i am stressed i will not make it at a borderline of 51 (that is including my 5 re-app points...ugh). but, its just "wait and see" at this point. just wishing this career change could move a little bit faster... good luck :) to everyone...and hope to see you in the classroom! sp 10 359 - # applied 51 - lowest ranking offered a spot fall 09 262 46.8 sp 09 200 45.4 fall 08 163 43.51

ACC Spring 10 admittance
Thanks Echo2112- good luck with the program and Congrats for getting in. Yes, you must have had a 51 or higher as that was the lowest rank offered a spot. I've come to the reality that I may or may not get in in the Fall, but will likely get in Spring 11. Sounds worlds away. And, yes, have looked into UT (and others) alternate entry MSN programs. Mostly, I have been scared away by the additional pre-reqs required. I'm tired of taking simply pre-req courses! Last I checked, I would have 4 maybe 5 more additional ones to do, prior to even applying. That seemed like too much just for entry to a program, but now, with my reality check of possibly waiting another year to start an ADN, I may think about it for Sp and next Fall. We'll see. Another hurdle is making this move from CA to Austin (also dependent on husband's job offers). But, we'll get out there soon! Again, good luck with the program. Wish I was in with you! :) Colleen

Hi I found out the stats for the past 4 semesters (see below). There was a significant jump between Fall 09 and Sp 10 (over 100 additional applicants with the lowest ranking at a 51, 5 points more than in the Fall). ACC Spring 10 admittance
I ranked 45.82 with all nursing pre-reqs and co-reqs done and a HESI worth 7 points (and placed in the 240's). I am hoping/praying to get in for Fall with those 5 extra re-app points bringing me to a 50.82. This is the number that matters, so focus on that. But, I've heard they turned away everyone under a 51 this time. So, I don't think I would make it because do they round up? Would my score be considered a 51? I don't think so... The overall ranking is based on how many people apply during the application period. I think almost 300 this time around. I'm still waiting to hear exactly how many that was for the Sp 10. With my ranking score, I place 240something. Out of what? I don't know. I've also asked the Dept for stats from the previous 2 yrs. Once I get them, I will post them here. I want to know if the program is getting more competitive, which I bet it is, as there are many folks like me doing this as a career change (having all co-reqs done), etc., making the overall applicant pool more competitive. For me, its tough, because we are basing our move from CA on my acceptance to this program. Hoping to hear by April, but I've read it can be as late as June! Thats crazy! Any word on that? Anyway- congrats to those in and keep your fingers crossed that the rest of us make it in for Fall 10. I know mine will be permanently crossed until then! Good Luck CA-to-Austin soon!

ACC Spring 10 admittance
Hi No I wasn't released the petition to take 1105 yet. That should have given me the clue that I wouldn't make it in for Spring Hoping to take it in the Spring. They will let us know in December after re-applying. Is it a semester long class? Or, just a wknd seminar? What would you recommend doing ahead of time (prior to being admitted in?) I have some time on my hands right now and would love to get a jump start reading some of the material. Which courses do you recommend starting with? Can I get the books online? Yes, I've heard of the online option and will definitely do that. Where do you do your clinicals? We are still looking at areas to live, and I want to be sure I don't have a horrible commute. Do you pick which hospital you want or is it assigned? thanks again for the great info. good luck with this semester and moving to level 3, I hear that is fun (I am looking forward to Peds). :) Cheers Colleen

ACC Spring 10 admittance
Thanks Texas Rn 2 be! Do you know how many applicants there were for Spring? I ranked 240 out of ? I am not sure. I think I will be borderline again, as my 5 additional re-application points will only get me to 50. As a career changer- with a BA already, I already have my co-reqs done. The only thing I could do is re-take the 2 courses I received lower grades in to bring up my GPA. That would be a bummer though. I think I'll take my chances for the Fall and re-take them if I have to re-apply a 3rd time which would also be a big bummer:(. Are you already in the program? How is it going? I'd like to hear what those admitted think about the program. Thanks! CA 2 Austin (hopefully in Summer 2010)

ACC Spring 10 admittance
I didn't get in Bummer. It was my first time applying and was ranked a 46. Too low I guess. Does anyone know what was the lowest ranking score admitted for Spring 10? I am hoping that a 49/50 won't be too low for the next round (Fall 2010). I hear they don't let you know until May, is that true? As we are attempting a move (with child in tow) from CA to Austin, I would love to know for sure sooner rather than later. What have you all heard? Do you think my score will get me in for Fall?? Any info helps! Thanks and congrats to those who did get in. Colleen

ACC Spring 10 admittance
Does anyone know why ACC moved their Spring '10 admit date from 10/1 to 11/1?? I was hoping to find out today, but when I looked at their site this morning, I noticed the announcement on their homepage. I am dying to find out whether or not I'll be accepted then. We are moving out from CA to TX and need to find out as soon as possible! (otherwise, may have to defer one semester). Just wondering if this is a good or bad thing (maybe they are adding additional/new instructors and are opening up more spots?) Any info is appreciated! Thanks! Colleen Spring '10 hopeful
