August BOLC

Specialties Government

Published

Hey everyone, I figured since there is a thread for the July BOLC I thought I should start one for those attending the August BOLC. I was originally on the OML but was given the option of going active and attending the OR track. I happily accepted the opportunity!!! I received confirmation that I would be attending the Aug BOLC course then heading straight to WBAMC for the 4 month OR training course. My final duty station is still in the works... I just know it will either be Walter Reed or WBAMC (my fingers are crossed for Walter Reed).

Looking forward to meeting everyone and starting my Army Career as a nurse!!:D

now the question. How far is the airport to base. How long and how much will the cab ride be?

Ft. Sam is around 10 miles from the Airport. Sorry can not tell you what the cost of the taxi is thou.

Hey so... I got my orders from my recruiter... but not my official ones. Did everybody get the official ones??? hmmm. Also did anyone receive a packing list w. their orders? if so is it possible for someone to send them to me?

BOLC IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! yikes!

I've had my orders since June for the August bolc, but I just graduated and commissioned from nursing and into the army in May. I'm working as a nurse recruiter for my school till I head to ft sam in august, so maybe thats why I got my orders. I also heard that some people wouldn't get their official orders til a month out.

AN2011: Did you get a packing list with your orders? If so is there a way you could possible send me it in an email? Thank you for responding! where is your final duty station?

The Patrol Cap is now worn in garrison. I am attending a course at Ft. Sam at this time and Beret's are NOT being worn only PC's. You will still need one for your Class A's and on occasions as directed with ACU's

Yeah good point, im working as goldbar nurse recruiter st

At my school, berets got switched out in june. Thx for the reminder jeckrn!

Hey Everyone!!! It is getting SO CLOSE!!! I start my longggg drive (from Boston) to Fort Sam two weeks from today! My family decided it would be cool if we made the travel into a mini vacation (kinda a last family vacation thing). So now there is 4 of us road tripping it!!! Is everyone else bringing there cars? Also I got my uniforms today (now it feels real). Since I have no experience what so ever in the military it felt very weird to be in an army uniform! I didn't get my Dress Blues today though, my recruiter thought it would be a good idea to wait until I get to Texas since there is a possibility that we wont even need them at BOLC. How do you guys feel about this and did u get your dress blues?

Also how many others are going straight to El Paso for the OR training course... I know one other person is but anyone else??? Also Im going to be stationed at Fort Carson (Colorado) and wondering if im the only one on allnurses?

Can't wait to meet all of you, and also who wants to do some PT on 22 August... I still need to work on sit-ups and looking for tips!

You will need the dress blues. We had to wear ours twice during BOLC. You would be wise not to wait.

Hello!!

I also picked up my uniforms today minus the dress blues. The store didn't have the nurse corp patches, but I think I'm going to go back and get the dress blues this week. Lindz1125, what date are you reporting to WBAMC?
