August BOLC

Hey everyone, I figured since there is a thread for the July BOLC I thought I should start one for those attending the August BOLC. I was originally on the OML but was given the option of going active and attending the OR track. I happily accepted the opportunity!!! I received confirmation that I would be attending the Aug BOLC course then heading straight to WBAMC for the 4 month OR training course. My final duty station is still in the works... I just know it will either be Walter Reed or WBAMC (my fingers are crossed for Walter Reed).

Looking forward to meeting everyone and starting my Army Career as a nurse!!:D

Lindz1125,

I'm coming from rotc so I do have the uniform and a friend of mine told me the same thing, that was previously mentioned, that you will wear dress blues twice and they're also on the packing list I was sent, so I think having them is a good idea, especially since you will need them at some point anyway for any formal events you do in the Army (i.e., dining in or dining outs, ceremonies).

But I'm definitely excited to go to BOLC, not so much for the long drive out there. I'm driving solo from ohio on the 18th, I'm already working so it'll be like my own little vacation without having to use "leave time." I look forward to meeting all of you experienced nurses, since I'm a new graduate :)

Also how many others are going straight to El Paso for the OR training course... I know one other person is but anyone else??? Also Im going to be stationed at Fort Carson (Colorado) and wondering if im the only one on allnurses?

Can't wait to meet all of you, and also who wants to do some PT on 22 August... I still need to work on sit-ups and looking for tips!

Will be PCSing to the 2nd FST at Ft. Carson next year. I am a 66E, went to Ft. Lewis for my course so can not give you too much info on Ft. Bliss. The course is not bad, alot of hands on training after the first couple of weeks.

Hey all,

I created a Facebook group for all of us going to BOLC in San antonio in august 2011.

Please join and upload pictures and videos and give the link to family and friends, so we can have a central webpage, where we can upload photos, etc, instead of emailing everything.

Joe

Hi all, I am attending BOLC with you. I JUST got my orders yesterday! I was anticipating being in the AUG course but was getting nervous as I didn't even have an RFO until pretty recently. Anyway, I just asked to join the FB group. That was a great idea! Also, for Lindz1125 and lalo100, my first duty station is at WBAMC. I already live near there because my husband is stationed at Ft. Bliss. El Paso isn't as bad as people make it out to be =) And to Lindz1125, for sit-ups, I like to do 8-min of abs each day. Do 4 different exercises for 1-min each and repeat them again without taking a break. It is tough, but works well! An example would be: 1 min crunches, 1 min bicycles, 1 min scissors, and 1 min sit-ups...then repeat. Look forward to meeting you all!
