ATI testing GRADED.

Published

Ok, so my school does ati tests like many others. We need a 75% or better to pass a class. The end of semester ati test counts as 10% of our grade. You can score a 90 or 100% on it. If you score worse than the tier you're put in you receive a 0.

Does anyone else have the ATI test count as 10% of their grade?

It bothers me a great deal that it could fail half our class. In the test they cover EVERYTHING, even stuff we haven't studied (1st semester students).

It covers peds, mental, etc etc we haven't even touched those subjects yet.

ATI has tests in each subject matter; as first semester students, I'd expect you'd be taking RN Fundamentals. After pharmacology, you take RN Pharmacology; after OB, you take RN Maternal Newborn; etc. At least, this is what I would expect (and what my program does).

Surely you're not taking the RN Comprehensive in your first semester?

And, yes, our ATI tests in each subject counted for about 10% of our grade. But we got partial points for levels below Level 2.

its a comprehensive test. We do not touch mental, peds etc until a later semester. at least 70% of the test is stuff I've never seen, and we've never been taught. we get 0 points if we score below level 2.

Wow. I've never heard of taking the comprehensive in your first semester. We take it in our last semester.

We took the Critical Thinking Assessment ATI- Entrance during our first semester. It was used as a basis of comparison of how far we had come when we took it again in the final semester (Critical Thinking Assessment-Exit). It was not part of our grade.

Every other ATI was at the end of the semester for the appropriate class and was part of our grade (Level 2 worth 85% of possible points and Level 3 worth 100% of possible points).

No, but Im taking a HESI test this semester that is 40% of my grade..

I'm a first year student and the ATI Fundamentals RN test is worth 20 or so non-testing points for the lab course I'm in. If we get below a Level 2, we have to remediate for a certain number of hours and turn in a bunch of completed Active Learning Template concept maps in the areas we were weak in. We still get points for not reaching level 2 if we remediate and turn in paperwork as required. I don't think anyone will fail the class as a result of doing poorly on the ATI exam, sounds really crappy of your program to hang so much on an exam that covers areas that you all haven't even learned yet.

We did ATI, but ATI had nothing to do with our grade and had no impact on whether we passed or failed. There was only 1 practice assessment that counted as a quiz grade, but that was the only one.

We did practice tests throughout each of the semesters that were due by a certain date. This was the only time it'd impact our grade. If they weren't completed by the end of the semester, the student would get an incomplete for their grade. They asked for a certain percentage on the practice assessments, but we could retake.

We'd have a proctored exam at the end of each semester. We "needed" a level 2. If you didn't get the level 2 on the first try, you had to do remediation and take it again. It was required to take it again, but if you didn't score the level 2 again, there weren't any consequences. They did, however, use that to determine weak areas of each individual so we could continue to work on them.

It was the same for the comprehensive predictor which was taken a few weeks before our final exams. You had to retake it if you scored below a certain probability of passing NCLEX, but it didn't fail you if you didn't. They used the information to help the students come up with individualized study plans for studying for NCLEX.

I did VERY VERY poor on psyc questions. so unfortunately I missed level 2 by 3 questions!!!!!!! that makes my 86% go down to a 76% and we have our final left. if we score below 75% we fail the class. This mean having a 86% through the entire semester and I may still fail. I just don't understand how 10% of my grade can be over a test in which it has material WE'VE NEVER COVERED.

I would take this matter up with your program administration. It is not sensible to fail students over material that has not been covered in class.

When you get your report, what was the title of the ATI test?
