Again, :ancong!: to everyone! :D We've all worked SO hard (and for some of us waited SO long...) to get in--it is so great that we all made it!!! To mimic what scperez11 said: WE DID IT!!!

tttt & tarabara: The classes we will be taking are NUR 310, NUR 311, NUR 330, and the last one is different than all of us had guessed--NUR 312: Foundations for Nursing Practice. There are a TON of books we need... it surely isn't going to be cheap!

Also, I had a quick question about the stethoscopes if you guys don't mind me asking... haha. Do we have to choose from the three that they list in our packet? Or do you know if we can choose our own? I've been perusing the allnurses.com forums and I found one in the Stethoscope forum that I really like, people really like it, and it's only $19.99. The people were saying it's almost identical to the Lightweight II SE by Littman (one that is on our list for $44.50), for less than half the price and is comfortable on the ears (a big deal for me!). Also, does ASU care about color? Do professors look down on you if you have a colored stethoscope (something other than black?)?

The forum is here for anyone who is interested:

haha, thanks in advance! And thanks for the inside information! I totally can't wait until the Welcome Meeting and I totally can't wait to get started!!! I've gotta start reviewing Patho and A&P stuff....

Congrats again, everyone!! WOO HOO!!!!!

Also with equipment I know when my friend started the program at Mayo about 2 years ago she was required to get a certain watch (white in color, etc). Do you guys (tttt and tarabara) know what kind we need/recommend?

congratulations to all of you! and i forgot that cyndi holcomb labeled our class as 394/312; our psychomotor skills class is the same as the foundations class you mentioned.

@pineapplecrush: you absolutely do NOT need to choose their stethoscope. i use a second-hand pink prestige stethoscope i got from my sister. i'm male.

the books run like 700ish dollars.

Hey guys, congrats again to EVERYONE!! So I was looking at the book list and WHOA, lots of materials needed. Are any of you gonna purchase them online instead? Since I've started college in 07' I've ALWAYS purchased them online but now that I'm in the program, I don't wanna risk it.. lol.. On the other hand, I don't wanna pay $50-100 per book.. I'm excited for 4/16 and also to register for classes! Hey, I don't know if anyone has noticed yet but some of the ISBN #'s on the list don't match the book yr or other info. provided. I'm worried that I'll purchase the wrong book; so I might just wait to order them with most of the other students.

No you dont need to buy the stethoscopes on the paper, I bought mine online (color doesn't matter, mine is pink). Also, I thought I would buy my books online to save money too but in the end it ended up being a hassle and not that much cheaper. I'm just gonna buy them through ASU next time. The watch that I use is black and I've seen people wear watches of several different colors and they've never said anything about it. You dont need a blood pressure cuff either, I checked one out for the semester from the school for free.

Hey everyone! Just found this site today, and looks like I will be joining you all this summer! Congrats to everyone who made it in. I was a 1st time applicant so I can only image how some of yall feel getting in. I know I'm excited enough.

Does anyone here know the exact cost of the books we have to buy? Also do any of the books carry over to other classes or will there be more to buy with each semester? Just trying to figure out my book budget! Thanks for the help and again congrats to everyone!

tttt and tarabara: Thank you guys for the information! Especially about the BP cuff... you just saved me $30!! Thank you!!!

scperez11, airborneinf82 & everyone else: I'm actually in the middle of tallying book prices right now, so bear with me for another like... 30 minutes or so... and I'll post the totals that I come up with. And yes, scperez11, I've noticed that some of the ISBN's don't match. My best suggestion (and what I'm going to do) is to look for author and edition, BAR NONE, and skip the ISBN. I know for some of my other classes I've gone with older editions to save a TON of money, but I'm wary of doing that now. We need the most up-to-date information, in my opinion. But I don't think I can afford to buy all-new books, although there are 3 that are 2010 editions, so I guess I'll have to buy them brand new.

But airborneinf82, first of all welcome to the group! :yeah:Secondly, it says on the back of the book page it says that NUR 320 and NUR 484 uses the same books as NUR 310 and 312, so I guess when we get around to taking 484 whenver that will be, the books should be covered! :) Other than that, I have no idea :uhoh3:.

I am SO excited, though! I cannot wait until April 16th!!! I even bought my stethoscope today (woo, Amazon)! :D I'll be turning in my intent form tomorrow morning. I am so ecstatic about getting in and getting started with everything!
