Hello, everyone!
I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time.
I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year
.
Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat
What scores are you all applying with?
Well they're probably having so much difficulty because this is the first time they've had a nursing program start in the summer, and with the early start time and that the nursing program is so different from all others. However, you're right ASU sometimes has a lot of trouble getting their act together and figuring things out, i think part of the problem is the 4 campuses, a lot of people only know what goes on at their campus and know nothing about the others. So if you're dealing with people from tempe trying to figure out down town stuff its a pain! I'm sorry you guys are having such a hassle with this financial aid and stuff though, I hope it all works out quickly!
I have windows 7 and it worked with that even though it says XP/2000.
Sweet! If it works in 7, then it should work in Vista. My 64-bit is a different story, though, but I guess I'll tackle that when I get around to installing it. Thanks for the information and reassurances, though! :)
Shouldn't be an issue. Newer versions of windows run older software programs in MOST CASES. Chances are it will be fine. I will open mine up today and see. I have Windows 7 64-bit. The 64-bit might be an issue, but again, its probably a pretty simple program so i don't anticipate a problem.[...]if this summer is your 1st semester at ASU, then you won't be put in to the system to be able to get a permit until May 15th (which I didn't think to ask at the time, but its a Saturday). So basically if this holds true, then we won't be able to park in the garage the 1st day because we can't get the pass until after class that day. ---- is going to find out about this and I will call her tomorrow to verify.
[...]So, its either the 6th, the 10th, the 22nd or the 27th
Yeah, I was figured that it's basic enough that it should work in Vista, I just wanted to check and see. Crossing my fingers for our 64-bits, though!
That REALLY sucks about the parking, I'm so sorry! That's so retarded that they have it set up like that! The $5 lot across from Cronkite is probably going to be pretty packed on the first day!
As for the financial aid, I think I've given up on that. As long as they don't boot me out of my classes for not paying then I'll be fine with whatever they come up with, whenever they come up with it! All we can really do is sit back an laugh about it, like AZapplicant said. As much as we're freaking out about it, I can only imagine how much people on their side are freaking out about having everything completed and finalized in time!

Yeah, once you deal with ASU for awhile, you realize nothing is simple with them. Downtown simply tries to micromanage what they have, but in reality it's Tempe that runs pretty much everything to one extent or another. It gets really annoying sometimes, especially since Downtown is so new. I almost fell over when I realized that the "Financial Aid" office Downtown is a single window... in Tempe they've got like 20 little windows you can walk up to and a sprawling labyrinth of cubicles behind that haha. Hopefully once they get everything settled for this summer, we'll be set for all of our other semesters and they'll be prepared for next summer! :)

Book package is in!!!!! Just picked up my box. $587.50Also called finaid and the guy really sounded like he didn't know what he was talking about but said the new summer aid review is for additional award for summer?!?! Although my estimated tuition was $7017 so I dunno
Yay! Thank you for the heads up on the books. I am planning to pick mine up tomorrow. Hopefully they have enough :).
I checked my tuition today and it still says the old amount of $ 7,823.00 and today is the 6th...I wonder if anyone else has the same amount. I feel like I shouldn't even bother checking anymore because I never know what is what (it doesn't help that financial aid themselves, don't have a clue either )
Has anyone done the MPN and the Entrance Counseling for their loans yet? I did like two weeks ago and it still says that I need to do it under my To Do List. I called financial aid and they said that if that is not cleared on my account, my funds will be held !! But I already did it! Ohhh Financial Aid....lol
Ps. I called today to ask if I can add one more person to my guest list (since we are only limited to 2) and they said yes due to a couple cancellations/no shows. So if you where wondering if you can sneak in another person (I was thinking that haha before I called), call and ask if you can because I guess the rule is to comply with the Fire Marshall who is going to be there that day due to the capacity limits.
I didn't see any changes for financial aid either. If there aren't any changes made by tomorrow I'm going to call the CON. She seems to know what's going.
There were tons of JR1 boxes at the bookstore. They said that there were going to order enough for everyone. FYI - It is pretty heavy (~20lbs).
I remember someone saying that they were going to have trouble getting the summer parking permit in time for the program. I wanted to let you all know that there is an ASU visitor lot on the southeast corner of Fillmore & Central. It's pretty close to the CON. It costs $12 (all day) or $3/hr. In addition, the Arizona center parking garage is VERY close 5th st & fillmore (Arizona Center Directory - Top Stores, Shops, Brands in Downtown Phoenix). I don't know how much that costs, but I imagine that it's pretty comparable.

I had the same issue with my todo list. The mpn cleared but not the entrance counseling. I just got back from polytechnic fin aid office with my paper showing I did the counseling and apparently the student loans.gov website we are directed to from the todo list is not right!!!! I had to fill out some checklist thing there and they were going to fax it and said I should be good. I'll update when and if it clears. You might want to call and specifically ask about this. Today was the day I was told by CON that funds would disperse so I dunno.
Yay Nursing!

Well thank goodness! Im so relived Im not alone! haha I am with you all on how ridiculous this whole process is! They might consider working out the kinks before they give us any info! Well I sure hope your right about our tuition going down! That would be incredible! However, Im not going to get my hopes up, that seems to only let me down later haha. I'm interested to look at my account on May 6th and find another surprise! Hopefully its something to be happy about!
