Hello, everyone!
I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time.
I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year
.
Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat
What scores are you all applying with?
Sorry Im not sure if it works on vista :/ but I have windows 7 and it worked with that even though it says XP/2000. And trust me you didn't need a giant math text book the problems are sooo simple. Its like the doctor ordered 80mg of tylenol and you have 160mg tablets, "calculate" how many tablets you need. hahaha
Yeah! It says it's for Windows XP/2000. I run a PC, but unfortunately both my desktop and laptop run Vista.... In fact my laptop runs 64-bit Vista, which makes it a little worse.Interesting, though, that they would assign us a CD... I wonder if I can actually find a book version now that I know that the version I bought off of Amazon is a CD and may not even work on my computers....
Shouldn't be an issue. Newer versions of windows run older software programs in MOST CASES. Chances are it will be fine. I will open mine up today and see. I have Windows 7 64-bit. The 64-bit might be an issue, but again, its probably a pretty simple program so i don't anticipate a problem.
Does anyone know if the bookstore has the big package available to buy yet?
I talked to them last week and they said mid may?!?! So I guess I don't know. I will probably bug them again this week.
On another note, I went down to downtown campus today to turn in the last of my paper work and scholarship application. Also went to get my parking permit, and the "wonderful" news is that, at least if this summer is your 1st semester at ASU, then you won't be put in to the system to be able to get a permit until May 15th (which I didn't think to ask at the time, but its a Saturday). So basically if this holds true, then we won't be able to park in the garage the 1st day because we can't get the pass until after class that day. ---- is going to find out about this and I will call her tomorrow to verify.
Secondly, the make the whole financial aid thing even more confusing HAHAHA :) I also asked about that while I was there. Guy at financial aid said they would mail out a week before classes start. I told him we start early and he said it should be fine. I didn't trust what he told me because he didn't sound very knowledgable so then I asked ---- at the nursing desk and she said May 6th someone was going to do something and they should be sent out then. So, its either the 6th, the 10th, the 22nd or the 27th

hahahaha this is so comical! I wish someone just had a right and definite answer for us! Not like it isn't a serious matter or anything!
LOL! We really need to laugh at this stuff because it's all that we can do!
I feel exactly the same about the financial aid people. Everytime I go there, I see everyone hanging around chatting but nobody has any good answers. I've been there three times now, and the only person that seems happy to help is the undergraduate sitting at the front desk. The financial aid advisors act as if I'm keeping them from the very "important" conversation that they're having & are very grouchy (to say the least). Maybe they really don't know anything and they're just PO'd that I keep asking... haha
Now, the bookstore.. they say mid-May. I tell them that we start mid-May and they say, "well, we don't know the exact date".
Ok does anyones ASU account say Summer Aide Eligibility Review under To Do:? It says they're reviewing if Im eligible for financial aide! I'm so confused and it says if it does not dissapear from my to do list in 3 weeks then to call. I think 3 weeks is a bit long for them to review it! LOL All of this is so funny but so frustrating! I just don't get how they could be reviewing it now after they already said what I could get! Ahhh I hope Im not alone in this and its just another random thing going on with the financial aid department.
I do know that by May 6th, they're suppose to be making corrections as to how much financial aid they should offer. So, I don't know if you all noticed, but they "estimate" our tuition & fees to be somewhere in the $6K area and not the $8K area that it actually is. Therefore, they're only offering around $6K for tuition/fees even though it is much higher. "Someone" at the CON (haha) told me that they should be adjusting that and that they gave them the list of the 60 students that needed to be fixed. THat's why I think that we all have the review status. Apparently, someone on main campus is dealing with this and it is really not worth going to the downtown campus because they have no idea... I think. :) HOpe that helps.. It sounds like we'll all probably be good by June.

It is all we can do. I think really they are just watching us all run around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to figure this all out and are just laughing and enjoying themselves

Yeah would be nice. I hate having multiple answers to a question!

Same thing popped up on mine. I was wondering the same thing. You would THINK they would have it all figured out BEFORE they tell you what you are getting. It seems really weird. I dunno?!?! I must say ASU has really disappointed me lately. I expected much more out of them. I just honestly feel a few IQ points stupider every time something else comes up and I have to deal with them again and again.

That the correct version, its a cd telling you how to do math problems and then the workbook is full of practice problems to do. So dont worry you got the right thing! lol
