Hello, everyone!
I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time.
I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year
.
Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat
What scores are you all applying with?
Hey guys,By any chance did anyone write down which classes we are going to be taking for Jr 2, Senior 1/2? I didn't write them down at the meeting. Also, I'm trying to plan a new work schedule. I currently work the night shift (10p-6:30a). I love it because its calm and I get to bring my laptop at night to do hw. Right now I work Tues-Thurs, and am off every other Mon/Fri and every other weekend... Ex: One week I'll work Sunday, Tue-Fri and the following week I'll work Mon-Thurs, and Sat. Now that I'm in the program, I know I'll either have to double up on a day or completely drop a shift..
*First Idea: Wed, Thurs, Fri (double from 2p-6:30a), & Sat = 40hrs (But I think in later semesters Friday ends up being a long day? idk...)
*Second Idea: Only working Wed-Sat night = 32hrs (4 nights)... I gotta let my boss know ASAP... !

Hey Sabrina
I actually did write down the classes! Junior 2: 313,314,315,323/324,394(online) Senior 1: 410,411,420/421/422,494 Senior2:413,430,431,423,394(online)
I totally understand your work schedule! Ive worked full time at a hospital all through college too! Luckily Im dropping down to part time and get to keep my benefits, I know how that goes. I hope it all works out for you! You know what you can handle, youll be fine :)
Where can you find this information? I want to see what mine says...I can't find it on my.asu
Krisline,
You find it under the finances section. Go to the page that you would go to if you want to see how much financial aid you'll be getting for summer (or as if you're going to accept/decline it). On that same page next to the "2010 Summer" heading, there is a link that is directly square with that heading, but on the right-hand side. It says "view disbursement date" and there you go!
I wish there weren't fees on the loans... lol. I'm confused, though, because my "To Do" list is still telling me to accept/decline my awards but I've already done that. Plus, it's not telling me to go through counseling or to do the MPN thing. I'm not sure if I have to or not because I did do that once for Fall 2009 for a loan, but they actually wound up taking away my loan because they gave me my tuition waiver back (long story... haha). I wonder if all of that carries over, though?
I still need to get my books... lol! I've been slacking a bit lately :nuke: haha
:heartbeat
I haven't gotten my books yet either, I'm with ya on the slacking! haha Does anyone else have a hold on their account saying Hold Summer Dispersement? When I click on it, it says hold dispersement because I have not begun any summer classes yet. This was weird to me....I hope Im not alone. And my dispersement date says May 27th....I wonder why we have different dates? It definitely doesn't make sense that tuition is due the 20th or something and we don't get our money till after? Ohhhh dear such a headache! haha

They pretty much told you already! :) Although there is a different way. See below.
On myasu go to the finances and select "more" under the financial aid tab. Then, there should be an option to view the 2010 aid year. After that click on "view scheduled disbursement dates" for the summer.
Although, this is weird, there is this option mentioned. Or if you go to the accept/decline page where you actually can click the boxes, then click on the name of the grant or loan and it has the disbursement there. When I do it this way it tells me 5/22, but when I click the "View scheduled disbursement dates" then it says 5/27.... hmmm

Yeah my ToDo list still wants me to accept/decline, although I did get the one to do the MPN and the Entrance Counseling. You should at least have to do the MPN. You have to do that every time. I would call and find out whats up.
I actually just ordered all the other books (including all the extras, minus the Jarvis pocket companion and the Nursing Videos) that are not included in that package from Amazon and it was like $181 with 3-5 day shipping. I have to call the bookstore and see when they will have that package. I guess the Tempe bookstore knows nothing about it I found out the other day haha. Oh and did anyone notice that the list with ISBNs had a bunch of errors. It was frustrating at first sorting it all out.

Yeah, I've got the hold too. Its basically just saying we aren't getting it until after we start. I would talk to financial aid, but at MCC if you owed any money on a certain date, they would just take it out of any pending financial aid. Thats probably the case here too, but like I said I would call to be sure. With the different dates, its weird that I have found two different dates on my own stuff. Try it out and tell me if you have 2 different dates too.

I also have that hold. I've never seen it before, which is kind of weird, but I've only been going to ASU for a year so idk. I'm just assuming that it's bookmarking our accounts saying that we won't get the aid at least until school is out probably. But that's just a guess.

Yeah, I'm going to have to call about the MPN. To be honest I don't think they know what they're doing, especially in the financial aid office because there are very few programs that don't follow the normal schedules like ours. I think that is why it says the financial aid won't be disbursed until the 27th (and the 22nd...haha) because that is when the regular summer school aid goes out because they don't start until June 1st. It's just different for us since we start so early. I know Sara was saying that there were a lot of bugs that they had to work out of the system before we even signed up for classes haha. I also looked up what you mentioned and found a second disbursement date on the 22nd as well. Oh, technology! :throcomp: hee hee
About the books, the Tempe bookstore won't know a thing about the bundle because Downtown is the only campus that has the books. They're that way with every class, it's really annoying. I took an online class that was "based" out of Polytech and couldn't get the book at West or Downtown; I had to either go to Polytech and get it or order it online and pay for shipping. $181 isn't too shabby though! I just wish there was a way that we could get used books AND the ebooks.
Thank you all for the tips.:) All three different instructions worked. Mine also says the same thing, May 27 and 22nd. I'm really thankful for this forum because you guys always seem to answer my questions before I could ask it. It makes me feel like I am not alone throughout this whole roller coaster of a process haha all I can say is that :stdnrsrck: (now that we are all in the program wooohhhoo)

$181 was for new too, so used would probably be much cheaper. But yeah would be nice to be able to to that with the ebooks. Maybe alot of them we will use throughout the whole program so in the future most of our books we can get cheaper.

Hahah yeah this site does totally rock. The information exchange here is awesome!
So, speaking of, I was meaning to ask this at the meeting but I'm sure some of the current students could answer this. When do we wear the scrubs? Its not everyday right? Is it lab days, or just clinicals or what? I'm clueless on this.

Tarabara,
It's definitely hard working this many hours, but I'm used to it. I've been a FT student for 3 yrs now and I've ALWAYS worked FT and have got A's the whole way through (with exception to a few science classes). I know nursing is going to be more difficult, but I'm confident that I can handle it. I'm in a tough spot because I HAVE TO work 32 hrs minimum at my job to keep my benefits. Trust me, my job is SUPER calm/easy! The hardest part is staying awake all night long. Other than that, I've been going to school in the morning, resting before work, and studyin' all night.. Plus PTO is FABULOUS and I have a lot of hours in case I get burnt out :]
