I'm planning to take associates in biology from a community college and then transfer to bachelors for 2 more years, in total 4 yrs. what should i do after to become a nurse without wasting time.

i got rejected from the nursing program from CC.

Why did you get rejected from the nursing program?

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

once you get your Bachelors, you can get your ABSN

there was already a lot of applicants :(

Do what everyone else is doing. Complete prereqs and earn high GPA, identify a nursing school of your choosing and complete an application and hope for admittance

How long will it take? Can i be a nurse in 4 yrs with 2 years of assoc. in biology and 2 yrs in nursing school?

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

Moved to prenursing forum

Specializes in Med-Surg.

It depends on the school you should contact the 4 year school you want to transfer to only they can tell you.

I'm confused how you'll grad with a bachelor's degree in only 2 years? In what major, biology?

But why don't you just apply to a nursing program at a 4 year school then?

EDIT:

ohhh I understand. I think I misread your first post, sorry.

No it will probably take longer for a BSN unless you were to be able to start nursing classes your first semester in. There ought to be some kind of wait though. Don't be discouraged by a short wait IMO. You'll have classes to take like statistics and other 4 year school stuff. Then you'll have that out of the way, and you can work as a student nurse while in the nursing program. Better your chances to get a job sooner when you grad.

Depending on the school it could take 4 years or longer for a BSN. A problem I'm seeing with some programs is that they start during the sophomore year of college instead of junior year (I'm a sophomore now still doing prereqs at a CC). If you take 2 years for an AS and prereqs and then enter a program like that you'd have to take 5 years total for the BSN (AS + nursing school). Doing an accelerated program after getting a 4 year bachelor's degree would take another year but they run by quick.

You should start looking at where you'd want to go now if you decide to enter a 2/3 year nursing program to finish a bachelor's. See what prereqs the school requires and program lengths, if there's certain general ed classes you need too.

Why get a bachelor's in biology if you know you want to be a nurse?

Make sure you take all of your prereqs (A&P 1&2, Micro, etc.)
