Now that many of you that were affected by the retrogression have now received green cards and will be arriving in the US soon, I think that we should now have a thread focusing on that. As well as for all of the others from different countries.
Where to go to purchase initial items that will be needed. What to expect the first weeks of being a new resident in the US, etc. Many of us have are special places to find things.
I am not in Sacramento, but two hours south of there. Car insurance I cannot help you with, as I am provided with a rental car here.Taxes are the same essentially wherever you are in California. They are higher than some other states, but you have better weather, and no snow, at least depending on where you are.
I would not focus on taxes at all. First, your salary is going to be higher that what you are used to receiving, no matter which country that you are coming from, there are many deducitons that are available to you, such as nursing uniforms or scrubs, shoes, license, if it is not reimbursed by the hosptial, or agency. Books and magazines realted to nursing, cell phones under certain circumstances, etc., etc. There are many other things that can be itemized and deducted form your taxes................
Unless your me coming from the UK and taking big pay cut
Yeah im coming from the UK, but im not sure about the big Pay Cut. :chuckle
I am top of band 6 and still getting extra duty payments for out of hours and I do weekends, nights and bank holidays. I live in south so get £500 for cost of living allowance. Addded up gets me around $60,000 but salary in AZ comes in at $43,000. Thought overtime is good so that should help. The bigger picture is as Suzanne says plus what i can earn at the end of 2007
Really, I thoguht they pay good in US, in my case since im in payband 5, lets say im earning $37000 in here, in CA i will be earning like $77000, which is more than double Mind you, cost of living is not as high as here in UK, But it depends on where you are assigned, Obviously it is higher pay in CA compare to AZ, madwife do you mind telling me in PM on which agency or did you do your application on your own. Thanks
Hi Suzanne: I was just wondering, what should I need to install wireless adsl in my new home, and if you know how much would it cost?(just an idea)And, which are the steps and required documents to open a bank account?
Thank you
Wireless cable modem is my preference.............averages about $40 to $50 per month, again will depend on where you live.
Social Security Number is all that you need for opening the account. When you start work, find out which bank that your facility uses, you can usually get a discount from that bank.
