Army Reserve OML FY2017

Hello!

I am starting this thread separate from another thread that has been posted on numerous times. I recently heard from my nurse corps recruiter that they would soon be pulling selected people off the OML and commissioning them within the next couple months or so. We are currently half way through the fiscal year and this is apparently when the army starts to make decisions on their current needs to complete the army nurse corps new officer spots for that year. Just a reminder, the OML list is made of officer candidates that were selected to commission but were not offered a spot at that time. As I recall, there were a decent amount of us in this position after the November and December boards! I personally am on the OML list after the December boards for a 66H and am from the Nashville, TN area :)

If you leave a comment below, you will get updates when others post on here! Feel free to share anything you hear from your recruiters, peers, etc.

Good luck to all!

Exercises::::::: 1. You sit with your back to a wall and throw a medicine ball. I believe it is only 4-5 ft. 2. Standing long jump. Only has to be a few feet. 3. Dead lift 125lbs. 4. Two orange cones are placed about 20-25 yards apart. When you hear the tone, you run from one to the other. Hear the tone again and run back. You do this until a certain level is reached. It adds up to approximately 1 mile in 9min 38sec. No... you dont have to pass,,, but you will be doing it in front of enlisted personnel. It determines if you are fit for certain job categories. It wont keep you from your medical job.

I did something before my commission. It was like 4 events.

Seated ball throw.

Long jump.

Dead lift

Line to line timer style suicide run. (Like high school whistle sprint to line. Whistle. Sprint to line until you fail.) I think I go through 9 levels off the couch. Passing is 6th level 1 volley. Not sure if that's even correct terminology....

its not difficukt but the oassing standards are on he internet. I rememebwr I googled it before I was set to do it. I was nervous for nothing. Pretty easy. I'm 5-11, 170 lbs. with the build of a runner. I'm not that great for heavy lifting but I still maxed the dead lift at 220lb. It's not bad your legs are stronger than You'd think.

Drink a lot of water before hand. Well I mean make sure your well hydrated. You don't want to do this with a stomach full of water. Eat light small breakfast etc. you'll be fine. Marine pretty ouch explained it better than I did. Just realized this. That's why edited

All sworn in now and just waiting for orders to start drill. Thanks for the info, it was not bad at all. Is everyone else getting things scheduled?

CONGRATULATIONS!

I'm a little jealous since I'm still waiting for scroll. Hopefully the rest of us will hear something soon.

Do you know when you'll be going to BOLC yet?

Thank you

I am in the reserves so I will not find out until I meet with my unit. I have heard that there is some online thing s to complete before you can go to BOLC.

brap740 what unit are you with?

Hey all thanks for the great info. I was selected by the FY2018 board as a 66P (reserves) back in November 2017. Still waiting on orders. Checking in with my recruiter regularly but still no word. Any other 66P's on here waiting for orders still? Seem's like it took a few other folks on this board until August from FY2017 boards. Is this true?

As far as bolc. You'll do bolc phase 1 online. It's like 80 hours of online instruction. And then you'll go to bolc phase 2 in Texas. As a reservist you have 2 years to complete it after you start drilling.

Hello everyone,

I just received the call I am OML 66T. Passed everything with flying colors, no wavier needed. A little backstory, I've been a trauma nurse 4 years, for three different level one hospitals: TNCC,CEN,ENPC, and NRP cert. Now doing critical care transport/Flight team. How long do most sit on OML?

It really just depends on the mission of the Army for 66T (its needs) at this point. I know on the active-duty side, they are short on 66S (ICU/crit care) but I don't think they are short on 66T. I am not sure what the mission is for 66T on the Reserve side, but hopefully your recruiter should be able to provide you with some insight. Some people are picked up quickly, some never leave the OML. Good luck!!

Thank you! I am hoping I get picked up quick. If not, I may switch back over to 66S, because I have two years as a float ICU nurse.
