Army nursing board met on Tuesday, Nov. 17th and I guess we should expect to hear from them today. Anyone else went up for the Nursing board and if so have you heard anything? I hope we all get accepted. I am excited and really want to go to OBLC in either the February or March class, if I am accepted, because I heard the summer's are brutal. I hope by the end of the day we will all have good news!!!

Anyone here on Facebook? Maybe we can start a group for future 2010 army nurses? I graduate in May so I'll probably go in July or August. Let me know!

I don't think I did a W-4. I did sign my contract and some student loan paperwork, but that was it. They didn't mention anything about direct deposit or anything with payroll.

My recruiters were saying that is was a new process, and it isn't even included on the checklist, but if you submit your packet without it the HRC will reject it and will need it resubmitted with the W-4 and direct deposit. Maybe you should call your recruiter and give them a head up about this new policy.

I was commissioned into IRR in June at that time I signed contracts, bonus and loan payment papers at that time, I then got the phone call for for my 1st duty station and OBLC date in August from a LTC that does the assignments for CPTs. I have never turned in direct deposit or W-4 forms. Does anyone know if I need to do something else at this time?

First of all, Congrats to all of you being chosen and being comissioned.... I just finished my first semester at the University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore. I was just wondering, how difficult is it to be chosen to be comissioned as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps? I would really like to join the Army after I graduate because I have heard from many that it is a great experience. I have been having trouble trying to get a medical recruiter to call me back, could this be because I still have 3 semesters left? I would like to start the process soon so that I can go in as soon as possible after I graduate. Any advice would be appreciated.

Keep calling, or if it's close enough go to the med recruiters office. Three semesters, is just over a year. It will take you nearly a year of not longer to get through the selection process, so now is a good time for you to start. Be warned, the process is long, tedious, involved, some what time consuming, and there is a lot of "waiting to hear." there are many things that can cause you delays so you will need to stick with it, if it's really want you want.

Hang in there, and visit here often and keep us informed on your progress. Good luck

:DHello there: I am in MD too. I may try to get into the Army, but it will be a LONG shot..... to say the least... My thoughts are if it is meant to be than it will happen. It is a shame that you didn't

commision before you entered BSN program. YOU could have been in the STRAP program where you get $1,900.00 stipend each month until you graduate. It is said that you wouldn't deploy during school either. KEEP trying........... It will happen for you...:D:heartbeat:D

I can't remember from your previous posts, but are you going reserves or active, Renee? I was supposed to go active, but by the time we finally got everything together for the second time (explained elsewhere ;), the active slots for my specialties have all been filled --so I'm forced to go reserves to get my foot in the door for about a year before I go active. My 2nd MEPS is next week & I haven't a clue of when my recruiter is going to be able to submit my packet to the boards (waiting for my last 1 or 2 supervisor references & then everything is complete). Also meaning, I haven't a clue if I get in when my OCLS would be :). I enjoy watching everyone's life processes :). God bless your week tons! :) Holly C.

Good luck Holly, be patient it seems like the average length of time for this process is 6 months to nearly a year, and that's if everything falls into place. I've given up stressing over it, I'm still waiting for one last step. I'm working on getting into the reserves, Im doing the educational program as I am in an RN to BSN program right now. At this rate, I'll be done with school before I complete the process
