Army nursing board met on Tuesday, Nov. 17th and I guess we should expect to hear from them today. Anyone else went up for the Nursing board and if so have you heard anything? I hope we all get accepted. I am excited and really want to go to OBLC in either the February or March class, if I am accepted, because I heard the summer's are brutal. I hope by the end of the day we will all have good news!!!

Nope.... I haven't signed any papers yet. I guess we are still waiting for our scrolls which I suspect won't be until the New Year. Everyone is probably on Christmas break. Another waiting game.

I just spoke with my recruiter today and she will be picking me up this afternoon to commission and sign my contract. I guess our scrolls have come back and we are clear. Yeah!!! I will keep you all posted.

Congratulations!

Just signed contract and will officially be added to the system. I now just have to wait for orders, and for my Branch Major to contact me regarding OBC date and duty station. I was with to Fort Hamilton Healthcare Recruiters and there is bad news for others who are applying. 66H is closed until October 2011 year. The Nurse Corps has already met there quota and we were the last board. Even in the last board 40 people were put on the waiting list and may or may not be selected. Due to the economy things are pretty bad and everyone is flocking to the military. Good Luck!!! We do not commission until 3 days before OBC and it looks as if we will not be leaving until most likely the July class because there are so many people. Anyone who hears different please post. Thanks!!!

I signed my contract too and the letter of intent. I heard they were not taking anymore, but I didn't know it would be that long.My recruiter still has to set up my AKO account.I really, really hope we go before July. Please, Please,Please! LOL! I will let you know if I hear anything

There is the February class, March 30th class, and then the next class isn't until July 14th report date. The February and March class are way to close. I'm just going to prepare for the July class and let it be gravy if we get to leave before then which would be awesome!!! My recruiter didn't mention anything about an AKO account. What is that and when should we have it set up?

It's an email account. There is no certain time to have it, I just thought it would be nice to have. I guess we have time since it may be a while before we leave.

Can I just request to have it? Is it important right now? How do we receive our orders? I guess I should have asked my recruiters these questions, LOL.

You can ask your recruiter to sponsor it for you. It's not important right now, but I would definitely want to have it before OBLC.

I haven't talked to my recruiter in a few days.. now i'm wondering when i'm gonna be commissioned! I was told i had to fill out some paperwork for the direct deposit, the W4, and sending in my promissary notes from my school loans but that was all he said so far. Do we know if theres a certain time we need to be commissioned by?

The paperwork for the W-4, loans, and signing the contract are important for being put into the system and getting orders. This information must be submitted as a packet by your recruiter via the computer system. Banking information, tax information, and student loans will all be filled out and signed by you and then uploaded into the system. Once this occurs your orders will eventually be generated. Commissioning does not occur now until 3 days before leaving for OBLC as we no longer commission into the Reserves, but are now basically DEP members in the Individual Ready Reserve. No uniforms, ID's, or anything else until after commissioning which is again 3 days before your OBLC date.
