I live in the state of Florida and am applying to work at Good Sam Med Ctr, I am currently in ICU and have over 8 yrs ER experience prior to that(20+ yrs of hospital based nursing experience). Any info I could get about Good Sam or the other Banner facilities would be a great help. Thanks in advance.....

I also work ICU in the Phoenix area. I have never worked at any of Good Sam's ICUs....but I know nurses that have. I have never heard anything good about it though. It could be that I am hearing very biased opinions, because, afterall, the nurses aren't working there anymore!

I loved working for Banner in az left in 2002. I worked in the or at Good Sam and enjoyed going to work. The staff was great to work with had no problems. I left to come back to FL to let are parents be around the grandchildern

Specializes in ER.

I work in the ER of Banner Mesa (formerly Mesa Luthern) as a Tech and I love it there. They have great benefits and treat employees very well.

I'm glad to hear that, I just got a job as an extern there. I really liked the hospital when I toured it, but you never know until you work there. I've done my clinicals at Banner Thunderbird and loved it there, so I was hoping some of the other Banner hospitals would be as nice.

what specialty?

Banner's cool, but I don't really have anything else to compare it too, lol

Thanks thrashej!!! It's in OB!!!! I really wanted to end up there, so everything worked out great. I thought I'd end up working med/surg for a while first, and then when I graduated apply for OB, but the director said as long as I work out I can just stay there as a new grad and then as a new RN!! I don't have to worry about trying to get in, I just can't believe how lucky I was to get it. I'm so excited!!

Just got word today that I passed all my pre-employment screening and should be called today or tomorrow to start. At Banner Mesa I could've worked PP or L&D and I think I'm going to try L&D. I just loved it during clinicals!!

How are you liking your externship? Have you picked an area yet? Just think, you're starting block 4 next week, can you believe it?? I'm still amazed at how fast nursing school has flown by, it seems like yesterday I finally got in!!

Well, take care, I'll see you around next week.

I am so happy for you Keli, that is sooo great!!!

Part of me wanted something OB, but I really wanted to have a well rounded learning experience just in case I ended up not wanting OB and wanting to go somewhere else. I chose Tele. This month has been horrible for me, I got sick several times, and wasn't able to work much. But so far, it is pretty fun. I still have my other job PRN.

Getting paid totally beats doing everything for free!!:lol2: Plus, it sorta feels "real". Petrified of this coming semester, as I am every semester!!! GOOD LUCK!!! See ya soon I am sure.;)

keli,

what do you do first, med surg or psych? where r u going clinicals?

Thrashej,

I'm doing psych first :uhoh3:

I'm not sure where I'm doing my med/surg clinicals, I thought it would just be at BT still. I carpool with a couple of people (well one less now, she transferred to MCC) and we just wanted to get psych over with!

I know this month has been horrible. Everybody in my surrounding family has been sick with the stomach flu. TG it has passed my house up (other than the girl staying with us, she had to go to the ER she had it so bad). But so far my kids, dh and I haven't gotten it (knock on wood!!).

Tele was my second choice, but I could never get an interview at Chandler REgional. Do you guys have orientation next Thurs? I can't understand why we have it, since we didn't have it for block 2. I'll see you around. Take care.

Yeah keli, orientation sucks, try to put the fear of God in you!:lol2:

We really got stuck with it this time. We have orientation that is actually "lecture" and counts towards clinicals hours. We go to school Wed-Sat! Ugggh.

Let the fun begin!!:monkeydance:
