The Discovery Health Channel. Oh my goodness I can't get enough of it! I learn so much everyday! For me it keeps the ol' critical thinking skills sharp ! My favorite show is Trauma Life in the ER! I think it's fun to watch a situation happen and have the narrator say what's going on and I can say what's going to happen next; and just what I said was going to happen, happens! It reassures me that: YES I AM A NURSE AND YES I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! I cant wait to go back to school to get my RN so I can work in a level 1 trauma center!
IT'S MY HEALTHY ADDICTION:lol2: ! It's continuing education at my fingertips 24/7!

I love Discovery Health!
However, sometimes I find myself yelling at the TV..for instance when they have a birth and the baby is all gurgly sounding and nobody is suctioning it..my fiance just laughs at me..
hehe..great channel though :) I learn lots!

Is there another channel? Geeze, am I missing something? It is all my TV gets! Although I must say that my family does get a bit testy when I want to watch it during dinner. I don't know why, but they do.
Peace Out,
Dan

Wow! I'm glad someone mentioned this channel. I was totally oblivious to it. However, I'm not getting any sound on the channel. Or the ones around it for that matter. I have the digital-plus cable service, I checked and it should be included in the service. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday to able to contact the cable company and tell them there's no sound. Oh well, at least I'll be able to read the closed captions.

I love Discovery Health. It is the only TV I watch, other than Grey's Anatomy. My husband banned me from watching it with my last pregnancy (5 years ago) because I used to get so upset seeing some of the shows especially those about sick babies or complicated deliveries. I am in LVN school right now...and I always tell my classmates the reason I know this "stuff" is because of Discovery Health.
My favorite shows: Critical Hour, Trauma Life in the ER, Birth Day and Dr. G, Medical Examiner. Ooh...and Skeleton Stories is really good too! It is amazing what investigators can discover from examining the bones.
I have to say...it is a GOOD addiction!

I have to admit that the shows are pretty addicting and I've been a long-time fan of Trauma and Dr G.
However, there are some days when I get home from the NICU and it was a really rough shift and the last thing I want to think about is another screaming kiddo. You know, one of those where you just want to be left alone to veg out and watch The Simpsons or something - but on those days, it never fails that the TV lands on a baby show on Discovery Health.
My family: 'Look Eric! It's babies!'
Me: 'Oh yes - babies! How wonderful!' :uhoh21:
Anyone else feel like 'living it' is enough sometimes?

I love the programs available on The Learning Channel (TLC) here in Canada. We also have a Discovery Channel with some programs that are shown on the US Discovery Channel it's mostly Canadian content though or British. I have basic cable and that's basically the content here. I love (sorry can't remember the correct name) Real Life or True Stories of the ER. Excellent program. Any type of medical documentary and Little People, Big World programe.
