Are Students Protesting HESI??

Published

Hello, everyone. I was told by a classmate that she head that there is a website that was started by a nursing instructor. I guess the website is looking for those nursing students who completed their nursing program and were never told from the beginning about the HESI exam.

Rumors has it that this website has these students setting up a protest date, time, and place.

I really would like for anyone to let me know if they know the website or where and when they will be rallying. I would like to join in the protest.

Its about time that schools stop abusing these students because of HESI. Its about helping the students. HESI is only a probability exam.

Please let me know if anyone finds anything

Why can't help these students get theirs?

Remember what mom's say, "If you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all." Again, no offense.

Too bad. I get to say what I want just as you do. If you don't like it then you don't have to respond...

Well I retake Hesi Saturday could everyone here please pray for me!! It will be very much needed and I will be forever grateful!! Here's to Jesus Taking the Wheel on Saturday!!

I will be praying fyou or each and everyday until you let us know how it went.

Keep your head up.

Don't be afraid to get up if there is a question that you are stuck in.

Walk around, stretch your legs.

Don't forget to breath. Practice your breathing technique.

What I do? I try to find a happy place in my head, when I need that break. Make sure you don't spend over forty minutes sitting there before taking a break.

I am at work. Kinda of quiet here, right now. Walk away from people who you see are stressing out. Don't need that kind of negative energy. Don't read anything the night before or on the way there.

Peace

Your school has options other than making someone repeat more school. Schools can use Hesi in ways it was not intended.

Too bad there isn't some kind of remediation or something. Sometimes it's not the knowledge base but maybe more in test-taking skills. One student in our class is a classic case of this. She knows the material but she doubts herself and will talk herself out of the right answer. If you talk to her one-on-one, she knows it. You see her grade and you'd never know it.

Another thing is confidence. I'm leary of the way your school is handling this issue. So your students will risk another year of their life, another $9,000 in hopes of that one more test chance? And then what?! This may or may not be addressing the problem/s. Even NCLEX allows you to retake it every 45 days.

I'm sure you've studied your butt off, but don't forget to LET Jesus take the wheel. I think you might have already taken it, as this was from yesterday, but I'm still praying :)

This is to the "back and forths" out there, nobody in particular - at least y'all have a "know no better just starting out" student who will certainly be on top of what is expected of me. Thanks for that!

I don't care how many/what kinds of tests they give me, I'll either know it or I won't. If I don't, then maybe I'm not meant to be a nurse. But I'm a ways off, I'm just now learning algebra LOL and trying to keep all A's in all my classes til I get there, then I'll have to see what's meant to be.

I may sound crazy, and I'm NOT saying anybody shouldn't be a nurse, but maybe you could go on to teach; you certainly know what your teachers did WRONG and I bet you'd be awesome at teaching what students DO need to know . . . as long as you don't let the school stats run your teaching like they may have. Course if it weren't for school stats, financial aid and transfer contracts would be out the window . . . watcha gonna do.

Thank you so much for that reminder. Its okay to disagree with someone, but its never okay to have such destructive comments when doing so.

I had enough of those from nursing school.

I think its always best to stay humble and remember where you came from

Nurisng school was difficult enough, and I understand that at times students need to vent, instead of being judged and minimized.

I had wished that I found this site years, ago. There are so some many supportive colleagues here. Even though ones thoughts differs from yours doesn't mean that person is less smarter than you.

Nursing is a team effort.

Thanks Angie!

Hello I rescheduled my Hesi Exit to the 20th. I just didn't feel right this last week something told me to just wait and so I did. I'm glad I did b/c out of the 30-35 people who took it over half failed again. :bluecry1: They said it was harder than the one before. :banghead:So i'm glad I changed it so I can get more studying in for the one on the 20th. So please continue to pray for me b/c I sure do need it. :specs:

Sincerly,

HESI will not beat me!!!

Keep that confidence up. I don't know exactly what studying tools that would specifically help with HESI. Their style of questions is so differenet.

I used saunders and nclex3500. I prayed alot too.

Maybe someone here can suggest what good study tools you can use specifically for HESI. Their style of questioning is different from saunders.

And its not like NCLEX, that I am positive about.

I can't seem to put my finger on it. What makes HESI questions so different than NCLEX?

Those of you who took HESI, did you feel that you can use the nursing process in order to answer the HESI questions? Didn't you feel that some of the HESI answers were ridiculous?

Could it be that we have been taught nursing terminology and HESI questions, answers its in such a lay person term?

Can't figure it out, right now.

Maybe someone here can.

Thank you !! I completed RN school and passed all classes and we were also hit with HESI at the last minute. I missed the 850 requirement by three points. Not only did I not get to graduate but my school gave us a zero as a test grade that counted as twenty five percent of our fourth level grade as a result I received my first F. So now I have to repeat nursing school, even though I made A's and B's throughout.

I wish my school would do what others are doing and just hold our degrees untill we pass Hesi. It seems so unfair that because of one test I have to repeat school.

The worse part is that it was so poorly implimented. Testing dates and times were changed. No one was clear on how much time we had to take the test going into it. We had no time to study for it because we were in clinicals and theory classes, doing projects writing papers etc.

I have been so depressed all summer.

I am so sorry to hear that flamingopink. My school gives us 3 tries but we have to get an 880 and so far it hasn't been going to well for me and the majority of my classmates. I find it totally unfair especially for you guys to not even be given at least 3 chances. And to have to do the whole program over is ridiculous to say the least. Something needs to be done....
