Are there any nurses out there that thought nursing school was easy?

Published

that thought nursing school was easy or maybe not that hectic for them.

I ask because I'm gonna be starting NS in 2 weeks (YAYYY for me), I've been working at an Hem/Onc practice for 6 yrs and while I know some stuff but I also know that I don't have a clue what I'm in for. But for some reason I'm not afraid, just really excited! I've read some of the stuff that's posted but I think I'm ready 4 it!!!

Do you guys mind sharing your thoughts on NS and what you thought of it, should I be afraid?!

nah, i don't think you have to be afraid. more people kvetch than praise, so don't take too much too seriously. enjoy the ride! (and check out the student nursing areas in an.)

Nursing school memories: plan out your projects and study time will make it doable and minimize late night cram sessions for papers. I'm thankful my care plans were 2-4 pages not 21 pages like some students have today, due WEEKLY! Back seat of my car was traveling library for years. With todays electonic gizmo's see if you can rent etextbooks rather than purchase to cut costs. PLAN down time into your schedule to decompress.

first of all, congratulations on your desire to further your education. regarding your post, i must say that nursing was easy to me in the sense that it came naturally, prior nursing i had this affinity on knowing how the human body works and how to mend it or make it better for those in need of help. having said that, this didn't mean that i slack on my studying on the contrary when the instructor said read from chapters 210 through 220, i always read beyond that to further my comprehension on the subject. in addition, every chance i got i had a book in front of my face, answering my insatiable hunger for knowledge. needless to say, i encountered my share of obstacles along the way but i didn't let anyone derail me from my quest. moreover, i excelled even more during my clinical rotations, since i always been a hands on kind of learner. honestly, i never sought out to out shine anyone but my own self. pursuing this further, even when the tough times came my way i grew tougher, when someone tried to put me down i levitated with an incredible force that resonated within me. in conclusion, i have an advise to offer you during your nursing program don't take anything for granted, plus during your clinical make it a must to enriched your professional connections; plan ahead your job hunting this will give you an advantage on your competitors. wishing you the very best in all of your future endeavors... aloha~

Nursing school was easy for me in the sense that I never feared that I would do bad on a test, at clinical, or in lab. It came naturally for me as well, and I think that is in part because I always knew it is what I would end up doing. NS was however very long, emotionally draining, exhausting, etc because of the amount of papers, careplans, projects, and clinical we had to do.

I want to thank you guys for the positive feedback so far. I've been getting myself as mentally prepared as I possibly can without trying to over do it. This is an accelerated program and I'm going to be going in the evening, I already warned my guy and my daughter that seeing me will be scarce, lol. Thank you again Gitano, my study habits are good, but I'm going to make sure I excel in NS, because I've dreamed of this for a long time. While I am excited about starting NS, my goal is to become a nurse, so I know there is plenty of work to do.

You can do it! Nursing school was probably the hardest thing I've done. I had to relearn how to study, discipline, time management, memory techniques, people skills. Pride? gone i left that a while back with my first exam grade. I went to my professors asked for help, she asked me about my study / sleep habits and worked with me to set a schedule for things and report back to her on a regular basis lol. It worked! I had to learn basic studying skills something most people had back in gradeschool. Many moons ago I had a strong ability to understand and remember info so never had to study then it faded.

Anyways nursing school changes you one way or another. You are being remolded into the school's image of a nurse. There are certain traits, skills that are required so either you have them or you learn em.

STart preparing for student life now. Read up on your anatomy, chemistry get into the habit of doing h.w. studying and what not. Prepare as if you were taking the class this way when you do start classes you have a basic understanding of the first 4 chapters if not more. This is how the hardcore student gets A's they find out the classes, books and starts studying 1 semester before school starts. I didn't but now i know how' its done.
