People leave CA because they can't find work in hospitals or anywhere else. Make certain you have a job lined up before you move to CA or you may find yourself in a bad way.

My sister works at a hospital in OC and they now have people driving from San Diego to work there.
That ,makes it bad, hmm?

Its pretty bad. Better if you have experience though. New grads have it the worst.

Yes, there are jobs in California but as a new grad, tough luck. Many people from CA move out of state for a job... something to consider before coming here. I agree with caliotter3, don't move here unless you have a job secured.

There are definitely some jobs still out there. My nursing school cohort graduated August 25th of this year. There were about 34 people who graduated, and I know for sure that 16 of us have found jobs. It does seem pretty hard for the rest of my nursing school buddies at this point. Most of it is luck of being in the right place at the right time. Precepting in the right hospital, at the right time. Networking!

All the jobs in Califoooorinaa, are filled by happy nurses with ratios who are getting really good pay. It's becaaause theyyyy had the guts to walk out. We'd all be employed, and the hospitals, annoyed, if we all joined the CNA!
California Nurses Association, that is!

Job market for new grads is dismal; very few new grads are getting hired. There are some jobs for experienced nurses. As stated earlier, the pay is good ($50+ for experienced) but the cost of housing is still high.

Depends on where you are in the state, housing has actually become quite reasonable here in the northern part of the state. The housing market has taken a big turn up here, however I am not a native and I plan on moving in the next year or two.
