Are you going to dress up for Halloween at work?

Published

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I'm excited that my boss has given us the OK to wear a Halloween costume to work, provided it's not inappropriate, nor gets in the way of us doing our jobs.

Are you going to wear a costume to work? If so, what as?

CONNIE how have you BEEN????

Since I'm in management, a lot of people think the witch would be entirely appropriate! I'm tempted to wear a black pointy hat and carry a broom.

We offer free flu shots to all our employees (I work in industry). I issued a challenge to our management people, since most of them are chicken to get a flu shot. I think we've had enough get one done; I'm wearing my hair purple on Friday. Should be interesting!

:)

last year I dressed in whites and wore my nursing cap. I put on angel wings. I went as an "Angel of Mercy" Everyone loved it. When I had to go to OR I just slipped off the wings and hat. Very easy. This year I am not working halloween. I guess I will just be a "wretched homemaker" and pass out goodies to the children.

I am going to be a box of Mcdonald French fries!!!! It will be fun!!! We have a dress up contest and award cash money to the best of 3!! It will be great... Always is... :)

I hate to sound unoriginal, but I usually go as a nurse in scrubs.

Since I wear street clothes to my school nursing job, the kids never get to see me as a "real" nurse.

There is the possibility I might find something else, if I have time!

Deb,

Too busy for words. One husband, 2 kids still at home, 2 jobs- full time in CC, part time as a clinical instructor, and still in school for my BSN. In my spare time I'm still a band mom and an active school volunteer. I don't get as much time as I'd like here but I do try to check in every few days. Good to hear from you, hope all is well.

Don't do Halloween since the kids grew up and escaped the nest. :rotfl:

One set of my grandchildren have "Hallelujah Night" at their church where they have a party with trimmings and lots of fun. If I'm off (not sure if I am), I may go see what all the hoop and hollerin' is all about since the grands invited me to come. :D

My middle daughter allows her son to "trick or treat", but they live far away so I won't get to spend time with them. I miss them so much. Haven't seen them in over a year. :scrying:

My youngest daughter & son-in-law get into the "Halloweeny fun" with their kids. They have lots of fun, but she limits the treats they can collect. (Smart mother). Since they'll be living on a military base by Halloween, they'll trick or treat on base with other military brats. :)

Watch out for ALL the kiddies on "trick or treat" night! Drive safely! Drive sober! Buckle up your seatbelts! If you are walking with the children, hope they'll be dressed in reflective clothing of some kind so they can be spotted easily by the drivers in the neighborhoods. Last but not least, I'm SURE all the goodies your children collect will be INSPECTED before the kids get to gobble them down. :)

I just got home from a costume shop. I wanted to go as a "traditional" nurse, as some other posters here have.

I was looking for a white nursing type dress and a white cap.

They only had the "naughty nurse" stuff.

I think I'll go to Walmart and buy a white skirt and blouse. I'm going to go to Michael's and buy some large pieces of white construction paper and experiment with making a nurse's cap.

I graduated in '92, and didn't get a cap. In fact, I've only even seen one real nurse's cap in my life.

I'd love to know what it feels like to wear one just once, and I'm interested in seeing the pts' reactions.

I have a "Halloween" witch scrub top--I've worn it for several years, always get compliments. I'm kinda worried it matches my personality a little too closely!

I did dress up one year (I have a Ladybug costume leftover from when I did Infection Control), but after I thought about it for a while, I figured, just my luck to get the sickest kid in the nursery--what a memory for mom and dad. I know, I know, just bring in extra normal scrubs, but every one else is still dressed up wierd. Just didn't like the idea.

I guess it would be kind of awkward to be dressed up in a goofy costume taking care of a really sick baby w/ really worried parents! I would imagine that some new parents might take it to mean that the nurses are taking their situation too lightly.

You never know what families will think.

I work in long term care and the resident's love halloween! This year I'm going as a prom princess (found my old tiara from senior prom). Last year I was Ruth Buzzi from laugh-in. The year before I was an overweight hooker - got my butt pinched a couple of times! We've had a clown, a guy in a pink tu-tu, witches, etc. Staff kids come by after school in their costumes and trick or treat with the residents. We have hall decorating contests, costume contests and generalized fun. We even had orange cornbread one year! Tasted ok but looked strange....

I'm going in my Star Trek Costume, complete with Vulcan ears! My wife is going as a themometer, oral. I couldn't convience her to go as a rectal one! :roll
