Are you going for BSN or ASN?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi

I'm Just curious.

Are you taking prerequisites for an ASN degree or BSN ?

Specializes in Family Clinic.
mindofmidwifery, CNA My thoughts exactly. I could either put my family in overwhelming debt or come out virtually student debt free. Plus the market is the same for ASN and BSN nurses in my area.

Thank you so much and it is

Such a wise decision you've made. Good luck!

I live in Orlando, fl and have no idea how is the job market for ASN

I just searched the job postings on the website of different hospitals in the area. They have education requirements listed, at least around here.

Be prepared to work in a nursing home or be limited on job options if you for ASN instead of BSN.

BSN for me. I wish I could have done the cheaper ASN route but with schools pumping out so many new grads with MSN's (and not enough jobs to go around) I have to have a BSN to be competitive for a job around here :/

My original plan was to go for my ADN, but each semester that I took a science pre-req I also took a general pre-req. Next thing I knew, I had all of my pre-reqs for the ADN and the BSN programs, so I applied to both. I got into both! I will be doing the BSN program. Luckily, we have the money put aside for my tuition, so we will not be incurring debt for me to go to school.

I live in Oregon and our community colleges work in cooperation with the BSN program at OHSU, so that once I graduate with my Associate's, I'm eligible to do an online RN-BSN program through OHSU. So I'm wrapping up prereqs for an Associate's degree, but also taking advantage of this slow time to get any additional Bachelor's prereqs done even prior to starting the ADN program. I'm obligated to stay with my current employer for a year after I become a RN because they are currently reimbursing my tuition while I'm working as a CNA, so I figured I could work as an RN while getting my BSN on their dime.

I already have a BS, so the pre reqs for me are almost exactly the same for ASN or BSN at this point.

ABSN is my absolute first choice of course, but I will take and be happy about being accepted to anything that gives me the RN credential. If that means ASN, I will bridge over ASAP. The CC's here have bridge programs that let you start your bridge while in the ASN program (or start almost immediately after).

I'm in a pretty high population area with only a few in state nursing programs, so competition is pretty fierce. I'll do what it takes!

In my area, BSN is required for most positions. I'm going for a BSN. I'm taking the standard straight out of high school 4 year program that includes the prerequisites in the first year.

Thank you guys for your answers

anybody from Orlando fl?

I have no idea how's the job market for Adn

Already have a college degree. Going for BSN so that after 3-4 years I can go for my Masters.
