Are there ANY nursing jobs?

Im a new RN living on the indiana/ohio state border and I am have no luck on getting a job. Everyone wants experience and I don't have anything other than clinical experience. I have always had a job for the last 10 years (since I was 15), but only in customer service and cooking. I have even been an assistant manager for a few years. I am CPR certified and have both my Indiana and Ohio license. Is there anything I can do/not do on my resume and applications? ANY advice would be helpful. :confused: I really feel like I'm letting my family down after all the support they have given me.

I know of a few hospitals in southeastern KY and TN that are hiring, however, d/t the area the pay is awful but so is pay everywhere around here.

It couldn't hurt to take ACLS and PALS training and add those certifications to your resume.

If you're living on the Indiana/Ohio border, what cities are you looking @? Are you willing to relocate, say to Cincinnati or Indianapolis?

Are you close to the southwestern Ohio border/greater Cincinnati (that's where I'm at)? There are no jobs here if you are. Don't know about anywhere up north.

I pretty much expect to have to move to get a job. I've been doing my research around here and there are none, 0, nada, zilch. All require experience and all prefer a BSN on top of it. Some of the nursing students I speak with at the hospital I volunteer at know they won't be getting a job there currently. Many people I've been in class with are moving down south to finish school and work there.

I do believe some home health agencies may be hiring, most do require experience and a BSN as well. Haven't seen any LTC's hiring.

It is a national job search for federal/governmental jobs. You'll find jobs nationwide for RNs if you are willing to move.

I think the government sector is often overlooked when people are looking for work. There is a huge cache of competitively paid jobs with excellent benefits there if you care to take a peek.

Licensed in TN Jan 2010, sent faxed resume with cover letters to every LTC within 1 hr of my house. Started working in March, then they let me go after 5 weeks, sent out resumes with cover letters again. In May started working, just hit my 90 day anniversary, I am working, and it is hard to get a position, anywhere.

This area, west TN, is very sorry for jobs, right now. I actually am working across the state line in KY, 45 minutes from my house.

Faxing a resume and cover letter seems to do much better than personal interviews and you spend less on gas and hassle of filling out apps with no chance of hire.

In school and in my previous jobs, they pay attention to my nearly perfect attendance when they consider me for employment.

Male, wear hearing aids, 53, and started with zero experience.

Many things work for different people in the job hunt.

This worked for me. You will get there. Easy? No. Doable ? Yes.

austin texas. level 1 trauma center. short on night shift, high acuity tele/med surg (transitioning to cardiac stepdown).

2 open positions.

Are you really diploma grad? I thought the diploma schools closed years ago. If you really a diploma grad........ I hate to say that maybe the problem. I am sorry to be the one to say it but jobs are limited pretty much everywhere right now. Nurses with BSN's and experience are unable to find jobs.........I am a prime example. I have been out of a job a long time now. The good thing about nursing is that famine is always followed by demand. Try look for an LTAC, long term acute care, long term hospitalizations go there and they do IV's and have ICU's. A company called Kinderd comes to mind and they are nationwide. Maybe LTC to begin with.

If you really are a diploma grad you will find getting a job to be more challenging that ASN,BSN degrees. I don't want to start another "my BSN is better than your ASN" arguement. But especially today a true diploma grad will have a difficult time getting a job. Good luck to you Keep trying and a job will come.:redbeathe

I have friends who are graduating from nursing school and worried they won't find a job. I have been fortunate to have found a good job right out of nursing school almost a decade ago.
