i heard the farmers hate it. i think nurses too especially those with cvvhd. they say it can save energy and money i think they save more if they stop dropping bombs other countries.

Well I didn't mind it until I got a phonecall at 6:30am this morning. I work 10-6am and I was told I would work until 7:30 instead of 6:30 so the baylor shift don't have too much trouble coming in. Has anyone else had this happen? I worked at the same facility last year but didn't work that weekend. I also seem to remember doing a nine hour shift when the clocks fell back. Nobody came in early so I only had an eight hour shift.

As someone with Seasonal Affective Disorder, I love DST simply because there's more daylight.........I wish TPTB would just leave it this way all year round, like they did during the 'energy crisis' of the 1970s. It's the switching back and forth that gets to people.

Personally, I don't see how keeping things on DST all year would inconvenience anyone. More daylight=more time for outdoor activities, less energy use, and for us SAD sufferers, fewer symptoms. Seems like a win-win solution to me.........but then I suppose there's got to be SOME reason to keep doing the switch every spring and fall.:uhoh3:

Normally DST does not affect me one way or the other but this year I hate it. I worked nights last night 11P-7:30A and tomorrow I have to work 7A-3:30P I could have used that hour of sleep lol

Hate it hate it HATE IT! The older I get the longer it takes me to catch up on that lost hour of rest.I detest bright, sunny,HOT summer days.I get depressed in the summer-and hole up in my cool, dark ,cave.......I love gloomy ,gray crisp and cool weather. I've been known to skip family functions due to summer.......

I think that it is ridiculous and I hate it. And I am one who loves the outdoors!

It totally screws me up for a week or two.

I think that for people with kids it is not good either. Much harder to get everyone settled down, fed and ready for bed when it is beautiful outside and still light.

I am curious if there were some sort of national referendum possible, would a majority vote to keep DST? I most certainly would not.

I just hate having to reset all my clocks and watches.

Marla, that doesn't make sense. Just because we change the clock doesn't mean it produces more daylight. LOL...just kidding. I don't mind having more daylight in the evening.

But I HATE HATE HATE being in between two 12-hour shifts and losing an hour's sleep.

I know, once upon a time in the olden days it wasn't too bad. Now you have the change the DVD player, the stove, the microwave oven, the alarm clocks, the clocks on the wall, etc. etc. etc.

My sister and my eldest son are like you---they hate summer! You are right, not all SAD sufferers experience their symptoms in the cold, dark months; I've read several books on the subject, and they all agree that a small but far from insignificant percentage of SAD victims actually are at their best during the fall and winter. It's not known as to why this is, since SAD is generally attributed to the changes in our brain chemistry that take place as the hours of natural light decrease and the weather turns gloomy; but the fact is, there ARE folks whose systems appear to work the opposite way.

Thanks for the reminder!

Well, atleast the clock on my car radion won't be running an hour fast.

Gotta keep that in mind now next time I'm racing to get to work!

So if I get off at 330am tonight, am I leaving when the clock says 330 and working and hour less than normal? I never thought about this.

I only wish I knew when DST was coming up, more than a day in advance :p
