Applying to UCLA MECN to start Fall 2015?

Published

Hi! Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program? Last year I applied and wasn't accepted. I believe they accepted around 12%. They had 70 spaces down from 90 the previous year.

For those of you who took a class that ended in december, when you sent in your transcript in late dec/jan did you get an email from them confirming that they got it? I didnt get a confirmation email after this transcript and its making me nervous that maybe it didnt arrive. Did you guys get/not get a confirmation email in january?

when i sent it i also emailed one of the recruiters who had emailed me previously and told her i sent the transcript and also attached an unofficial copy. But i didnt hear back from her. Am i being overly cautious?

Hi Hanabiwabi,

After I submitted my app in Nov., I got an email saying that I had to send them another transcript at the end of the semester since I was taking two pre-requisites (+ epidemiology). I sent them the transcript early January and then I got a similar email saying that my application was now complete and it no longer listed those classes as pending (epidemiology still showed). So thats how I knew that those grades had been matched to my application!

Hopefully that helps!

Hey ya'll! I'm a current MECN student at UCLA. I know I had a TON of questions when I applied and the staff at UCLA are super busy. I'm not saying I have all the answers but I can do my best to answer some questions about my experience so far if you guys would like. ;)

@ BruinMecn2016. Thanks for your help! what was your application process story like? also, did anyone with one class in progress get accepted? I won't be finishing my second chemistry class until june.

You should be good! It's more on your SOP than having all the classes completed. I actually accepted offers from other schools since UCLA was so late last year and then found out I got in. I didn't have to be wait listed but a lot of people got in that were! I was accepted with the contingency that I take Epidemiology during the summer. So I was one of the students that took it at UCLA...I'd highly recommend that since we got a head start at bonding and study groups, etc. Plus I heard some horror stories about the online BYU I think it is. I'd say when/if you get accepted make sure you decide if UCLA is the place for YOU. Some of the students spent so much time worrying about if they would fit with the culture that they didn't take enough time to see if the culture fit them. :cat:

Hello my future Nurses =),

I thought I should join the thread because this wait is killing me =( . I heard that this year we may hear in late Feb./Early March. I hope!! I got accepted into Western's MSN-E program which is exciting, but UCLA is my number one choice!!!

Hello 😊 I know how you feel 😞 I certainly hope we hear from them in late February or early March! Even waiting a month feels like such a long time ...congrats on getting into Western! That's a great program 👍😊 did you apply to any other programs?

Thank you =) I only applied to Western and UCLA. I was going to apply to accelerated Bachelor programs for Nursing since they are due in March, but since I got into Western I am not going to apply to any Bachelors programs. How about you?

ah really?! that's my first time hearing that and I really hope so! I got into Western too, and if I got into UCLA I would have a hard time deciding, especially since the total cost would be so much cheaper at UCLA.

I know!!! I love that UCLA is cheaper and its only 2 years, but then I love that Western is a smaller environment, and that the whole school is dedicated only to health sciences.

@ Ms_Smiles. Late February? i didn't think it would be that early. Did you call up the office? i thought it would be march or april.
