Applying to MDC RN Generic Prgm for Fall 08

Published

Stressing! I am applying to MDC RN prgrm for the fall of 08 with a 3.2 and will be taking my last two pre reqs over the summer and GPA will be a 3.5 once i'm done with the summer semester. Not exactly sure how they will decide on whether or not to accept me but I'M TOTALLY ANXIOUS! (have not even turned in my application yet) LoL Someone, ANYONE, pls HELP! There is all this talk about how difficult it is to get into the prgrm and NOW i'm worried i'm not going to get accepted!:uhoh3::uhoh3::o

I agree Butterfly! Im definitley going to go out this weekened!

When I was at the advisor's office today, I saw Olga Quintana folding "sorry, you have not been accepted into the nursing program" letters!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to go through the papers to see if my name was in there! lol. but i was too chicken to do it!!! I hope that the "acceptence" letters are the ones that they are going to send out today or tuesday and not not "unaccepted" ones!

YOU didn't ask if you got accepted. LOL. They are sealing the letters as WE SPEAK. I think I would have begged to find out. AND I MEAN BEG. They say it is only by mail either way, but still. Just think if we were able to be sealing the letters. How lucky we would be right. LOL.

Is there anyway to have asked her? Do you think that she would have told you? I do not think so, but I am in a way tempted to call, and even ask. At what time did you go?

I am wondering if anyone will be getting any letters today? I do not think so, because it is Friday, and they pick up the mail a little early.

I hate waiting. HATE IT. LOL.

Your post has my stomach in knots now. LOL!! It's like, which one will I get--the rejection letter or the acceptance letter?

lol i didn't have the guts to ask her. but she knew how bad i wanted to know! if she wanted to tell me, she would have, and i didnt wanna seem more pushy than i was being! AAAHHH. I dont know about this scholars program, i dont wanna be stuck with a hospital for 2 yrs either if I dont like it. BUT we need to get experience somewhere right? and jackson has ALOT of departments to work in. I dont know...

i searched for RNs that graduated from MDC Nursing on myspace, and sent them messages asking about the scholars program. I hope they dont think I'm a stalker! Im even thinking of GOING to Jackson's ER and trying to talk to a nurse tech

lol I already checked my mail, and I didnt get anything.

I only saw the top letter, and it was a rejection letter. I looked at the name but it wasnt mine so I sat back down. I was ther around 1pm. maybe one of us could call and ask WHICH letters are going out first. the rejections or the acceptance....

All this waiting is driving me crazy! We have to be accepted, there is no other way around it.

I am going to drink some tea now and try to meditate about good things.

Positive and the way!

I was actually thinking the same thing myself regarding the 2 year committment. It kind of locks you in. But, I'll still apply. I wonder if we get to choose the department to work in afterward, or if they put you to work wherever they want to.

okay guys listen to this, this was a reply i got from a nursing student:

Hi Tiffany, am on 3rd semester on the nursing program and i've seen many people on the Scholars program already. If you are doing it because they will pay your class and you are in financial need, then i fully recomnded because college can be expensive. But if you are looking at it because it might give you a better opportunity, i suggest you stay in the normal nursing program at MDC. Many of the people that have applied to those programs have failed classes because they don't have enough teachers(and most of them are no qualified in my opinion). Last semester 17 people didi not pass their Med Surg classes on the Jackson program, so i recommend you saty in the normal program were ypu will surely have more opprtunities to pass!! Hope it was helpful!!

Sorry to bother you, but I saw that you were in the Nursing program at MDC and I would like to ask you some questions if that's okay..

I just got accepted to the program, and Im going to apply to the MDC Scholars program... I'm just not sure which hospital to do it with: Jackson or Baptist... Have you heard anything about it, or which hospital is better to do it with?

This changes my mind on the scholars program... I think i'm gonna do the regular thing now...

I believe that 24 months is a long commitment. At least for me.

The idea of being stuck in a job without being able to leave. I'll have to think about some more but I think I'll go with the regular track.

:nurse:

Yea, I'm not gonna do the scholarship thing anymore. I had my doubts about it because you're so sheltered at the hospital, and now with this new info... my mind is set. no scholars... i hope that financial aid comes through!

It is a long time. If the committment was for only one year, it would be easier to take. But, you're right two years is a long time.
