Applied for a non-nursing job today 😊

I was shopping at a local variety store today and saw a flyer that they're taking applications for a loss prevention person. Well, I've always had a desire to be a store detective, so I applied. I'd keep my nursing job, which is only 2 days a week.

The gal said no experience necessary, that they train you. Seriously, it sounds like fun.

Specializes in SICU, trauma, neuro.

Sounds like it could be a fun change of pace. :) One of the cashiers at my local Wal Mart is a 20+ year urgent care clinic RN. She works both jobs part time.

I sometimes dream of taking a job different than Nursing, just for a break away. So far I haven't found any that pay enough..

Good luck though, sounds like it could be fun!

That is the beauty of nursing; you can work a flexible schedule.

I was visiting a pregnant friend at the hospital last year before she delivered. One of my friend's antepartum nurses worked a second job at Lane Bryant, which is a plus-size women's clothing store.

She said she started working there 10+ years ago during college and kept the job after becoming an RN. She said she enjoys the employee discount and a chance to do something other than nursing, even if it is only one 4-hour shift per week.

I have honestly thought about working at a movie theater as a side job. [emoji4] For some reason, I think that it would be fun. Either that or work as a pharmacy tech. I still keep up with that license. Lol

I work as a school nurse, this year I started to work the ticket gates at our districts high school athletic events. It has been great - make $50-75/event for a few hours of no brainer/no stress work. I usually pick up 1-2 events a week - gives me Extra money for my summer travels.

I would consider a non-nursing job if the pay was close to what I make as a nurse. I hate nursing to the core but I do need to pay bills.
