Applicants to Portland area Nursing Programs for 2015

U.S.A. Oregon

Hi everyone! I am so excited that application season for 2015 is finally here. I am new to this board, but read several threads last year and learned a lot in preparation for my own applications. It would be great to hear from others who are in the same boat this year. :)

I have a BA in History, but have completed most of my pre-req's at PCC. My cumulative GPA is only 3.46, but my pre-req's will be a 4.0 (provided this Fall term continues to go well...) My top choice is UP, partly because I work for Providence and would love to continue to work for them as a nurse one day. I would also LOVE to go to OHSU of course! I am also applying to Linfield, PCC and possibly CCC. I am curious to hear which programs people are applying for. Such an exciting time to be moving towards our career goals!

I got accepted into PCC's nursing program too! Nearly dropped my phone when I got the email :D

CONGRATS to all of you that got accepted at PCC!!!! I'm sticking with my spot at CCC. See you Clackamas people in a couple weeks! :)

I know we have a little over 3 weeks left until PCC's orientation, but I just can't wait! At the same time, I'm also very nervous to start. Luckily, I have a coworker who is finishing her 3rd term with PCC and she's been helpful letting me know how to prepare (books, mindset, our work schedules).

I think it would be awesome to just meet that group of friends/peers at orientation to go through everything that nursing school throws at us!

I feel the same! Part of me cannot wait and part of me wants the summer to go on forever cause I know I'll have no time afterwards! I'm super anxious to find out about the schedule. I'm going to have to work simultaneously so that's what scares me the most. Is anyone else in the same boat?

How many hours has she been able to maintain and what's her schedule like??

She's been working mornings on Sun/Tues/Thurs/Sat. Has class Monday, has a lecture late on Tuesday, class all day on Wednesday (or maybe just the evening, I forget..), class on Thursday afternoon/evening, and a clinical all day Friday.

Hey guys! This is my second year applying to nursing schools in the portland area, i interviewed at OHSU Ashland campus and was placed on the alternate list (wah) as well as placed on the alternate list for the second time at MHCC! Does anyone know if they have made it anywhere through the MHCC wait list? @feeldz what number did they waitlist you at?

Seems like MHCC is my only hope this year, but it's also my first choice since it's closer than other places I applied too.

what number were you on MHCC's waitlist, just out of curiosity :)

MHCC didn't give me a number on their waitlist. Neither did PCC or OHSU. I think Clackamas is the only school that tells the 1-15 people on the waitlist to come to orientation (PCC might too...I don't remember).

Oh Wow! I never would have guessed it would have been all over the place! Everything I hear says "be prepared for mon-fri 8-5". I just can't wait to find out more! Do you know if we all register for classes that may be offered at different times like we did with pre-reqs??

Has anyone started a facebook page for PCC??
