Applicants to PDX area Nursing Schools 2010

Published

Hi fellow applicants for 2010!!

I wanted to start a thread for all of us who are applying to various nursing schools in the area for 2010. I have applied to five different places: OHSU-Monmouth, University of Portland, Portland Community College, The University of Washington, and Boise State University. I wanted to cover myself and hopefully ensure that I would get in somewhere. I have a really good GPA and experience as an EMT-Basic so I am hoping that that will help my chances.

Just waiting it out until they send out notifications.....I just want to hear back!!! :banghead:

Good luck to everyone who applied!

In the letter for the interview from Mt Hood, they said they would let everyone know who got in by May 10th. And not to call them to see if letters have been mailed out! Kinda straight forward!

larisagarrett31,

1005??? Really? Wow. Do you recall how many points you applied with?

Hmmm,

I did not get a letter from PCC. I wonder how their points compare w/ Mt. Hood. I got an interview at Mt. Hood, and had less pints, but 1000+ is a TON of applicants.

apdxstudent,

I think I had 51 or 52 points.................

Can you tell me what how the points were awarded??

if you go to the nursing admission website at any school, and download the info packet, you will be able to calculate your points. FWIW, I got an interview at Mt. Hood w/ 52 points, and one at PCC w/ 56 points.

I just got my letter from pcc and didn't get an interveiw with 54 points:(. Haven't heard from mt.hood yet. Anyone one else app to mt. Hood and not receive a letter yet? I'm getting tired of running to the mail box~

Maybe give them a call? I got mine on Wednesday. BTW, I got an interview w/ 52 (or so) points.

I applied to Mt Hood as well, and have not gotten anything yet as of today.

I got in to UP and looking at PCC points I only have 48, i wonder what that means for my acceptance at OHSU?

Does anyone know if PCC interviews all of their 100 successful applicants? Or if you have like 60+ points, you're in kind of thing. I didn't apply this year to PCC, but planning on next year. Thanks! :)

Hey Raybgl,

You might actually have a better chance w/ OHSU than PCC. I think a lot depends upon your essay. If you have a great GPA, and wrote a great essay, then you probably have a good shot at getting in. If you lost most of your points at PCC due to GPA, probably not so muc. I think my OHSU app. was actually a bit stronger than my PCC one. I lost points b/c I have no experience, didn't get all my credits at PCC, hadn't finished pre-recs, etc. Honestly, PCC seems a bit like jumping through hoops to me.
