Ohsu - Ocne/bsn
I think you still apply to OHSU! I had the same stats, 3.9, previous degree, previous career. I know finances are tough but something always works out. They have a top notch program and if you want to further your education, I think it might help you get into their advanced programs. The instructors are phenomenal with such amazing backgrounds. Private message me if you want to chat more. This is rare that I'm on here with my school load so it may take me a bit to get back to you.

- What choice should I make, Lindfield or PCC OCNE?
Congrats, Lila!!! I'm one of your classmates and look forward to meeting you! I believe Andie74 has been in contact and is trying to set something up soon! And about being giddy...I'm still unable to wipe the cheesy grin off of my face. Jtpdx- Am I crazy?
Just sent you an email! :)- Am I crazy?
Hi Andie74, Congrats on making your decision regarding OHSU! I will be one of your classmates! I'm not sure how to private message on this web site, but wanted to introduce myself and chat about what we need to do prior to September. This is an exciting journey we're about to take! jtpdx- At what age did you decide on nursing?
I'm 40 and start nursing school in the Fall. I have a previous bachelor's degree so this will be my second career. While I was a little intimidated going back to school AT MY AGE, I was happy to discover that I was never the oldest in my class. It's the best decision I've ever made. :-)- Escorting patients to labor
I think that's a little overkill. I used to work in an admitting department and we always took the patients up to the floor, after calling L&D to let them know we were on our way. If they were in active labor, we brought them up in a wheelchair. Personally, I loved taking them up to the floor and never had an incident.- OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010
Curious Me- Not sure how to send you a private message, still figuring out this Web site. I'll get there! I'm starting the BSN program at PDX campus, wondering what words of wisdom you could share. I did really well in my pre-reqs as well, but wasn't working full-time and carrying the same load you were. I have a ton of questions that I could wait until orientation to ask, but see that you have some really good insight and are level-headed (not OMG, it's so hard, it's impossible, etc) Let me know if you're up to answering some questions or just giving me a general overview of what to expect for the next 3 years, i.e. when do clinicals start, etc. Please free to send a note just to me. Thx!- OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010
31?!? You are a spring chicken! I won't divulge my age, but I've got some years on you! :) Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd go back for another degree, but here I go! You have plenty o' time!- OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010
Since I started this thread, I thought I should give my status. In all humbleness, I was accepted and will accept as this is my only option this go around. And, it's a good one! I didn't have the math pre-req met (it had expired) so I wasn't able to apply to the community colleges. Hoping for the best to everyone, and if it's not this year, keep at it! As the old saying goes, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.- OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010
That's great to know the letters won't be mailed on Monday, I won't run to the mailbox on Tuesday expecting it! :) I'm not sure what OHSU focuses on for admittance as this is my first time applying. Due to sheer volume, they must have a GPA cut-off, then they focus on the essay? Just my guess.- Applicants to PDX area Nursing Schools 2010
Does anyone know if PCC interviews all of their 100 successful applicants? Or if you have like 60+ points, you're in kind of thing. I didn't apply this year to PCC, but planning on next year. Thanks! :)- OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010
Sorry to hear that you weren't accepted, but hope you can hold your head up high as only 10% get in, if I'm doing math right in that they accept 100 out of 1005 applicants. Yikes, that's some tough competition!!! Did PCC give you an option to talk to them about what you can do to better your chances next go around?- OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010
I'm only able to apply to Portland area schools, but know that really limits my chances. My husband has a great job and we are settled in the area. This will be my second career, but if I were young and single, I'd apply anywhere and everywhere! - What choice should I make, Lindfield or PCC OCNE?
