  1. Hi, Can anyone tell me if their unit opens the OR while VABC patients are in active labor or do you do a stat section, if needed. According to AORN, the OR should only be opened just prior to use. Thanks
  2. How often does everyone do a Fall Risk Assessment on a labor patient? Thanks, Donna

Hi, Clear Liquids per the OB. One Anesthesiologist prefers NPO. Midwives feel like meals are appropriate and the patient will change to ice or clear liquids as she progresses in labor. D
  4. Hi, Does anyone have a policy for EMLA cream with circumcisions? I hear that Joint Commission does not accept sweeties as a form of pain control. They want to see EMLA cream or a block used. Some of our Doctors do not do the block rather Hurricaine Spray. Much Appreciated! D
  5. Hi, Can anyone confirm that the labor nurse is able to insert this first cervidil? I was under the impression that we could do the second. Thanks,D.
  6. Hi, I am developing an educational letter to parents when their newborn enters our NICU. Do anyone have one willing to share or any specific topics to cover. (touching the newborn, visiting, etc.) Thanks, D
  7. Hi, I am having an issue with our Admitting Dept. They feel that every labor patient should be greeted and escorted to L&D by a labor nurse. I would like to know if each labor unit sends a nurse to the admitting dept to escort all patients to L&D. This would include scheduled inductions, cesareans, possible ROM, ETC... It does not include active patients. Thanks, D
  8. Hi, Thanks for all the response. Are you able to share your consent? Who gets it: RN or MD. Is there an information sheet that goes with it? Thanks, D
