Applicants to Chico for Fall 2014??

U.S.A. California

Hi Everyone!

I'm just putting my feelers out to find others applying to the BSN program at Chico State for the Fall of 2014. The deadline to apply is in a week, so I'm getting excited and antsy!! I am from Arcata (Humboldt County) and live here currently, but I am excited to be hopefully moving to Chico in the fall!!

Allaboutkitties, do you have a bachelors already? They don't accept those students generally until you get accepted into the program. Good luck!

No! I do not have a Bachelor's... I'll be calling tomorrow to check on the status considering that nursing acceptances/rejections *should* come out in a matter of days.

Thanks! Did you apply too? If so, welcome! :)

@caligirl7 and curlypearly: I'm not sure if Chico is my first choice yet.... still trying to decide if I'll accept *if* I'm given an offer. I applied to other programs and am currently researching costs, employment rates, etc.. (just in case).

We shall be hearing back really soon if Chico sticks with the schedule.

Bleh my application is still pending review

Welcome beckybee94! :)

Do you mean your application is still pending review on NursingCAS or the University?

Very smart of you, wise choices! Hopefully soon, I am going crazy checking emails what feels like a million times a day. It's getting close to that date, but hopefully we will hear sooner.

For the university. My NursingCAS app was processed a few weeks ago. Getting anxious waiting :alien:

No, I'm currently in the program. Good luck to all of you! The program and teachers are awesome.

Ahhh, I see. Like others have advised me to, perhaps you should call admissions to get an update on your status. Decisions *should* be coming out on April 15th and you must pay your intent to enroll on May 1st. It would suck getting into the nursing program, only to later be denied by admissions and losing the $200 deposit. :| (Heard it's happened before).

So, I must pick your brain a little.. I'll ask some questions that perhaps others, like myself, are curious about.

1. What is your schedule like? What days/times are lectures typically held? What days are clinicals offered?

2. How much is tuition per semester? *or some break down of the whole program. (Not sure, found mixed information)

3. Where are the furthest clinicals offered?

4. What is the workload like?

Yeah, after I feel like I've gathered enough information, I'll make a choice. I just hope we all end up where we're supposed to in regards to school/program!

*Wishful thinking!

I am in the program now as well if anyone has questions. I am finishing up so I don't remember the schedules exactly but I know it was a two day schedule for lecture almost all, if not all through the program. Clinical schedule can be crazy. I had to do weekend shifts for maternity and I even had to do night shift one semester. I would recommend doing your clinicals at Feather River or Oroville hospital. They may be farther but you will get the best experiences there! They don't have as many regulations as Enloe and Mercy and the people are just so much nicer and more helpful in general. I found the workload very tolerable until about the last year. You could definitely work through at least the first three semesters. It's not that bad and MOST of the teachers are very helpful and respectful of your time. When you get the opportunity, DEFINITELY to the RCNP program, you will not regret it!

I have a feeling we all end up where it's best for us. It may take us to step back and look at it as whole but, at some point we realize that it is what is best. I probably won't get into sac after getting an email about the point cut off. That was originally my first choice but, I went and visited Chico and the campus and liked it much more. So my number one choice changed. I wasn't as disappointed about sac when I got the email (even though not official) as I would have been, if I never went and visited Chico and, found it a better fit for me. Now hopefully I get accepted ?? I am sure you will probably have a similar experience after researching and finding out your choices.
