I am also waiting to apply for Fall 2008. My application period is from August-October, and I should find out whether I am accepted in December. In the meantime, I am just trying to take all of my non-nursing classes so that when (if) i do start in Fall 2008, I will only have to take the nursing courses.
Hi Jeannai,
It is hard to answer your questions without knowing the specifics of your situtation. How does your school rank applicants? GPA only? GPA + entrance test? What is your GPA, how did you do on your entrance test?etc. As far as making it the first time you apply, it is very possible. I was accepted the first time I applied. My suggestion to you is to do everything you can to make your application competitive. Keep your grades as high as possible. If you need to take an entrace test give yourself plenty of time to study for it and also purchase a study guide specific to the test you will be taking. If your school offers information seminars for nursing make sure you attend one, I didn't and I found that the students who had already had answers to many of the questions I had about applying. Finally, ask a counselor or someone from the nursing program what type of GPA, test scores, etc. others who have made into the program had. Many times they give you this info at the information/application meetings. The waiting is the hardest part. I would suggest taking any courses you still need to complete and studying for your entrance exam if you still need to take one.
Good luck!
My application is sept 15 for spring 2008 (January) admission. I'm taking my last two prereqs this summer and then I have the fall off to work work work and save for when I can't work during nursing. Some classes at my CC make you agree not to work. I'll apply in the fall and then wait to hear back. I'm getting nervous because I don't know what to do if I don't get in.

Our applications are also due september first for a spring 08 admission. I have 2 more weeks of my pre requisites then I am all done till next spring, hopefully I won't get accostomed to the easy life of 8 months with no school.
I have to wait until February to apply as well......I only have Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology left to take. I figure if I don't get in the first time I'll still go to school and take some of the additional pre-reqs for the BSN in case I ever decide to take that route. At least I won't get out of the "school" habit and I'll feel like I'm still working toward my goal.
I am very nervous about not getting in the first time, and since we wok on a lottery around here I know I have to prepare myself to not get in the first go-round........but I just keep praying it all works out.
I need to change my previous post....I won't be starting in 08, I'll now be applying in 08...I guess that means I'll be starting in 09 (hopefully). I'm a brand new mom and need to take classes 1 at a time. I thought I'd try to take an intensive summer class this summer (speech) but realized I'd be headed for a breakdown....so I'm putting it off for yet another year...
oh well.....no rush.....i'll get there....
