Anyone only have to wait only ONE semester to get in to nursing school???

U.S.A. Arizona

Hello everyone! I just really want to get in to a decent nursing program and I just like all of you am becoming extremely impatient... Can anyone tell me if they got in within a semester of applying?? Or maybe even a year?? I really REALLY don't want to wait a year and a half or two years to get in... I would pick up and move if I knew there was a school I could get into within 6 months to a year. ANY INFO is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANK YOU!!!!:wink2::wink2::wink2:

Hey Bellabarbiegirl - when did you apply?

I applied about 16 months ago and I still am not in.

Also, I know you can get in sooner if you work at partner hospitals like JCL or Scottsdale Healthcare, but I know even those people have to wait a year or so.

Hi AZSAMANTHA! Thank you for responding! I haven't even applied yet, I am in december. I just am trying to figure out what schools I should put for my five choices... I am so incredibly frustrated already... I can't even imagine how frustrated you must be and everyone else who has been waiting SOOOOOO long. It is just ridiculous! I want to put Mesa CC and Scottsdale CC as my top 2 choices but I fear I'll never get in..well in 2 years maybe :bluecry1: :bluecry1: :bluecry1: I don't really know anyone going into nursing so it is so nice to have other people in my situation or ahead of me... to talk to. If you don't mind me asking what were some of your choices? Thank you for the info on working at a hospital! I will be applying in december and then I have bio 202 and Micro next semester while I am waiting but as far as after next semester I dont know what I should do for the next year while I am waiting... i am just so frustrated. I want to badly to get out and work. I have been so excited about nursing school and just want to get in. It's so depressing and the wait for me hasn't even started...:crying2:

Congrats!! :yeah: Where are you going?

Hello EDRN2B!!! Congrats!!! where are you going???? THANK YOU!

I applied in October 07, had my interview in December 07, was notified the first week of Feb 08 that I had a spot for August class.

Of course, this is at Central Arizona College. And you need a CNA certification.

Best choice I made, since I did not have to sit on a waiting list.

Good luck!

I applied to the Banner Nurse Fellows Program in May of 07 and was placed for Oct. of 07' even though I defered. I would def. recommend getting on with a hospital that has "staff" positions at a nursing school. I work for JCL and I heard their program is great, and I am currently in the Banner nurse fellows program and it seems to be going well so far! Just be proactive and start applying! :)

I think the only chance of getting in after only a semester would be the Banner program or working for JCL, etc, at least through the MCCD program anyway. It took me the average 3 semesters to get in. It is a very depressing wait and each semester gets harder, so I hope you do find a way around it. But unless you plan on exploring other options besides MCCD, it's probably not likely.

i'm going to Pima community college in Tucson, AZ. Most of the other students in orientation said they also only waited one semester.

they recently cleaned out their list of students waiting and people are getting in quickly.. They were also mandated by the state to increase enrollment so that helps too. But yeah, applied in May, starting in January :-). I'm excited.

I'm going to PCC, working on pre reqs. Wow, if the list is that short now I think I might panic. If that timeline holds true for me, I'm going to have to get all my supports done by the end of next summer! What are you going to do?

I went to an info session in Aug, took the Net in Sept, and start school on Nov 17!

Of course, I'm going to pay the price - it's Apollo. I think it's worth every penny, if I end up with an RN 2 years from now (I have no prereq's presently).

I believe the next class starts in March.
