Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.
Updated:
OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!
SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:
OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:
1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.
2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.
3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves
4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate
5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.
Oh, ohh, one more...
? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone
OK your turn....
at1210I only used kaplan to get me prepare....so i can only i passed...i did the pearson trick and it look promising if it hold true..then i may pass the evil NCLEX
Enante, I am also reviewing with kaplan but not doing well with the qbank questions. Scoring 50's. How is Kaplan compared to the real test. BTW what is the pearson trick? If you do not mind.
i did have good score on qbanks but that still did not make me that confident..i got 140 question and feel like a total failure right now..my scores for qbank were between 60-75...and i still felt like and idiot while taking this test..
with the pearson trick..once you see that ur status say delivery successfull..try to register for the test again like you were going to take it a second time...the news is that there should be a pop up that prevents u from paying telling you to contact your board of nursing...= you passed*** but it lets you go to the credit card page to pay= you failed. from the thread that i have read everyone who did it and got the pop up passed! i 'm crossing my finger!!!!

Tank u. Lets hope for the best!
It was sort of a green color i want to say....Well I did that pearson trick thing that they say and it turn out to be sort of promising because it did not let me go to the credit card screen..for what its worth it made me feel better because i'm thinking about getting some sleep...the only thing i have not eat all day, no food can go pass my mouth...that is the worst feeling in the world.but pray for me!!!!
Dear enante1129,

Dear beachbutterfly,I am glad you were able to obtain this book. It is extremely useful because after answering so many questions on alternative format, when I was on the actual test I did not freak out when I was hit with the first of many questions on alternate format. Since I had prior training on answering that type of question, it went smooth in that aspect. I was hit with a lot of alternative questions and as I mentioned before priority questions. How much did you pay for your copy of Strategies for Alternate Item Formats on the NCLEX-RN Exam by Linda Anne Silvestri and Yazmin Mojica? This particular question is for the benefit of those who are thinking on purchasing this book at Borders or any other bookseller, so they know how much money they need to budget for if thinking on buying this excellent book.
You want to know about the platelet count normal value which is 150,000-400,000. If a patient has problems with the liver, say liver cirrhosis, the platelet count will definitely be affected for it will be decreased. You need to know that a patient with a platelet count of 18,000 is a priority because that patient has to be put on bleeding precautions. I repeat, a client with such a low platelet count is a nursing priority, meaning that low platelet count would kill a patient by bleeding. You need to know that, my friend. Remember that the meaning of priority is figuring out from the scenario presented to you what symptoms will kill a client. Even if you do not remember the normal value of the platelet count, do not panic, for questions about platelet count are more likely to be related to a low count, so you know what to do if you get platelet count questions. You have to be able to discern and act accordingly for that is what the NCLEX is looking at. Never chose an answer that delays treatment, does not allow a patient to express his feelings, or do nothing answers for there is always something you can do for a patient even if it is sit down and listent to your client. Stay away from answers that involve restraining a patient or giving a drug to control behavior those type of anwers are most likey to be wrong. These are suggestions on how to get rid of the obviously wrong answers, so you can narrow down your choices and most likely choose the right answer. If you understand this you all will be able to pass the NCLEX. I give this information to you with the sincere desire that you all pass the NCLEX and move on to be successful registered nurses. Sincerely, feliz3
OMG I bought a wrong book this one http://www.amazon.com/NCLEX-RN-New-Format-Questions-Preparing-Lippincott/dp/1605471992/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247167964&sr=1-1, that is the reason why I was surprised that the book you mentioned came with the CD,I have the wrong book!!!! But it is also a nice pratice material since it has many alternative questions with an strategies but it does not have the CD!!! As far as the platelets I always forget the normal lab value range,I swear I tried to memorize it like couple of times and after some time I forget again..Anyway right now I'm using a great program by Judy Miller (it is a CD-rom program that prepares you for the NCLEX and it really helped to understand some of the topics I wasnt clear on..plus it is a realy good for the review content!!
Real late, but I just got on here sooo yeah lol I think this is a good idea! I will add some facts of my own on my next study break....I hope I don't duplicate facts. I wish I could upload the video my soror took of me when we were studying for a maternity exam. She couldn't understand the different presentations of a baby, so my silly butt got on the floor and did demos of like breech presentations, and stuff like that, and she passed the exam the next day! LOL
