Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??

Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.

Updated:

OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!

SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:

OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:

1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.

2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.

3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves

4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate

5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.

Oh, ohh, one more...

? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone

OK your turn....

Feliz3: CONGRATULATIONS AND THANKS FOR ALL THE POSTINGS IN THIS FORUM. GOD BLESS YOU.

Thank you feliz3. I was thinking if I can buy your books but I don't know how to reach you since we are not able to put our personal infomation (ie. phone #) in this thread. But if you have any idea, don't hesitate to tell me, and thanks again for answering my questions. Best wishes for you.

Dear littleangels0511,

Thanks for asking, but I do not sell my nursing books because they are reference sources to me specially the Priority, Delegation & Assignment and the Strategies Item Formats are excellent books for they taught me how to apply critical thinking to the concept of prioritizing, delegating and assigning tasks to health care staff. Thank you for asking, but I do not sell my reference books. Sincerely wishing you success in all your endeavors, feliz3

enante1129,

No one is a 100% sure that all the answers chosen are correct!...at least I have not heard of anyone who was 100% sure of all the answers chosen. That is impossible for the test is made in such a way that you have to make an educated guess and hope for the best...that's the nature of the beast, my friend. My situation was even worst than yours for my test shot down at 75 questions; however, in the past my test shot down, as well and I did fail, so when the test ended for me at 75th question it scared me silly, but what could I do.

I was given questions on drugs with names that I had not seen in my life...what do you think I did...I guessed what was likely to be answer, for definitely I was not sure what was the answer. The only thing that kept me hopeful was first prayer and the fact that I kept getting priority questions. As long as a candidate keeps getting priority questions he/she is in the passing range of the test, and you want to be way above the passing range. Do not get discouraged, wait and see...hope for the best. Wishing you success in all your endeavors, feliz3

Feliz3,

I did get a lot of prioty questions and a lot of meds...the last one i took was on addison's disease and that was knowlede...after that it shutt off and i said to myself great..one easy question and it's over, i was hoping for more questions in a sense but it was over...i really hope i pass but i think it's very unlikely to the way i'm feeling right now---like a failure...yikes...btw what's up with that pearson trick everyone keep talking about

Remember my friend, regardless of how you feel now it has no bearing whatsoever on whether you passed the test or not. Do you remember what color was the screen on your computer when it shut down for the test was over for you? If you do, please, tell me what color was the screen right after it shut down on you. I have no idea what is the Pearson Trick for it does not work in California. It works in states such as Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida. I went into the http://www.pearsonvue.com and investigated about obtaining quick results, but again California is not quick results state in connection with Pearson-Vue, it has it via the California Board of Nurses. Go to that website and it will tell you if the state you live in has quick results via Pearson-Vue. In California that service is free, but Pearson-Vue would charge $7.00 to your credit card if your state has quick results via Pearson-Vue. Best, feliz3

It was sort of a green color i want to say....Well I did that pearson trick thing that they say and it turn out to be sort of promising because it did not let me go to the credit card screen..for what its worth it made me feel better because i'm thinking about getting some sleep...the only thing i have not eat all day, no food can go pass my mouth...that is the worst feeling in the world.but pray for me!!!!

Good afternoon littleangels0511,

Thanks for you well wishes, my friend. I purchase my textbooks online via amazon.com. Amazon sells used book; however, it charges an extra shipping fee for used books and most of the time I end up paying for the book as much as if it would be new, so I buy it new. Another thing, used books which come with a CD-ROM when new, usually the CD-ROM is missing with used books. My friend, with the book Strategies for Alternate Item Formats on the NCLEX-RN, it is critical that you obtain the book with the CD-ROM for you are going to practice using the CD_ROM on the same format questions are presented to you in the NCLEX. I was so surprised while taking the NCLEX for I got approximately 7-10 questions on alternate format...whenever you take it, you may not have any. On the other hand, you have to be prepared to answer as many questions in alternate format as the version of the NCLEX you get presents to you...it is a fact of life!

This particular book is not very expensive, it is approximately $26.00. I had to get it because I was not very good answering questions in alternative format in the past, so knowing myself, I decided to practice on the areas of the tests which were a problem for me. If you are willing to purchase this book used, make sure it comes with its CD-ROM in good working conditions, not scratched or damaged so after you paid for it you would not be able to use it...that is the down side of buying used book. This particular one you have to have its CD-ROM. Another problem with used books is that usually the sellers do not have a return policy if the book is not in the condition the buyer expects, the buyer is stuck with the book. Best, feliz3

Yep I got that book,it comes with the CD,wow,I didnt know (I purchased it brand new from Borders) It is a really cool book and I think very usefull in preparing for the NCEX,congratulation on passing the NCLEX and thanks for the info!!
