I just can't get into my psychology class. Its easy when I'm in class, but when its time to do my reading at home, its just hard to understand. I feel bad, I thought this would be easier than it is and we're only on chapter 3. I feel behind already.

I took psychology last semester. I loved the lectures. Loved them. Unfortunately, the textbook was extremely dry, and staying awake while reading was difficult. Lucky for me, most of what I needed to know was discussed in lecture, so I took really good notes and used the textbook for assignments, supplemental info, and for clarification.
The woman who sat next to me had difficulty with the reading, as well. She met with our instructor to get hints and study tips from her, and ended up finishing with an A in the class.
If you're concerned, why not set up a meeting with your instructor? He/She may be able to help you out.

Is it general psych, like 101? I did a LOT of Googling, and watching of YouTube videos. I also tried to read each paragraph twice before moving on to the next: once just to read it, and the second time to analyze new information.
I feel your pain. I took Psych 101 online, and the professor was NOT willing to help us out at all.

Oh man, I take it online so I know how you feel. I am sooo lost I hope that I get long enough on the final/midterm so that I have enough time to look through the book for everything!
Yes, its general psych. I wish we had homework or something, then i'd feel like I could digest everything better, or at least know where I'm at and what I need help with. Our only test we'll have is the final exam.

My best suggestion would be to try and apply the material. I don't know if you have any prior patient care experience, but try to imagine these concepts applied to actual patients. I'm not saying just illnesses, but also for things like the stages of grief.

I am currently taking honors psych and I am only taking one class until I*transfer*this summer. I don't know if you are taking more*than*psych but I found the first few chapters rather boring myself. Another think you could do is use another source to help you study. My husband found something for me today that goes with my book and teaches you the terms and main concepts and you can take*unlimited*tests to see how well you did; here is the link:
Higher Education Learning Solutions - Cengage Learning
you can search for your book there and it has everything. Hope this helps you!

You could try looking for videos on Youtube. When I was taking A&P I watched a lot of videos. Many of them were lectures from professors. They helped a lot. Good luck! :)

I am so glad to see I am not alone. I make notes of my notes and notes from those notes. I start with the online (mypsychlab) study guide and fill it out as I'm reading, then I take the chapter outline from class and fill that out, finally I make note cards (5x7 size) of that! Plus lecture notes.
I have a hard time reading dry stuff, so on that online site I just mentioned, I listen to the chapter being read while I read along with it.
I'm having a hard time with all the new vocabulary. It seems to go in one ear and out the other.
Well, I was still struggling through psych so I dropped it I didn't want to ruin my gpa. I'm retaking it over the summer, this time I'm just gonna have to try harder.

Try re writing questions in question form and be able to answer them. I had issues with Abnormal Psych and just reviewed for the final over and over and over again (using notes and books). There are just a lot of theories. It takes time to get a good study habit down. I managed to get enough so the class could transfer. Got an 86 on the final :).
