I was wondering what the math emphasis. I would imagine it emphasized on measurements and the like, is this correct? Also, any insight into the exam would be greatly appreciated. :D

Yes i just took it last week and scored in the 97 percentile. I really didn't think it was that bad. I actually did the best on the math. a lot a lot of decemials and percents and fractions. Not much beyond that. I only had 2 weeks (over christmas) to study for it. I got the NLN book (I think by McDonald-it's a beige color) I did every test in there (and timed myself) and it really helped. I know a lot of people freaked out, one girl even cried through the whole thing. I think if you know how to study and take your studies seriously and use this book you'll do fine. There were a lot of physics and animal biology questions on the science but very few Anatomy questions which I think is odd. Good Luck

Thanks a lot. I am taking it on the fifth so I am studying pretty hard for it. What was the verbal like, specifically vocab.?

is this the book?

i have taken the TEAS and the TABE, but i need to take the NLN for my bridge program...

if it's as good as all the reviews say then i am going to definately buy it!

I think if you do the NLN book cover to cover you will be fine (provided you are a serious student) The verbal is a lot of vocab. They will use it in a sentence and then give you four options. There are also reading short stories and answering questions. I felt I did pretty well on the English and actually had 20 minutes left on my timer and went back over them. However I heard girls in the bathroom say "I never even heard half of those words") I think if you read a lot you probably would encounter most. Also study the roots and if you don't know the words it help you work it out. The book is true to format of how the tests are. Some of the questions are actually in the book. I also thumbed through a Physics made simple book.

Yes that is the book. Do not listen to the nah sayers it really helps. Read the review sections, do the test and then research (google if necessary) the questions you got wrong. Obviously it is not the same exact questions 9though some did come out of there but the substance is there and it gives you a feel for the actual test. ) TIME IT THOUGH!! Honestly I had 2 weeks -during those 2 weeks were christmas, new years and out of town guest. It was very helpful!!

thank you for your help! it is much appreciated!

i am definately going to buy that book :)

I would reccomend doing the test on paper rather than writing in the book and then you can redo the test later after doing a little research on the ones you got wrong.

I think the book is harder than the test however there were a few graphs in the science that I had no freakin clue. I just gueesed so must have done okay.

Let me know how you do

I took it today. The science is much worse than the math. Math was mostly decimals, fractions, percents and converting between the three. Tedious but not too horribly difficult (watch me bomb this part now :chuckle).

The science was just unspeakable. I've never taken physics or chemistry, just a physical science survey course and biology classes. Too many questions about waves, electricity and the Kelvin scale. *sob*sob*sob*.

I usually do well on verbal, it seemed pretty straightforward.

I took it on paper, so now it's a waiting game for the results .

I felt the same about science but actually did best on science.

Hi guys,

This is just the thread I was looking for!! I am taking the NLN on Feb 11, and I am soo nervous. I hardly studied and I am trying to cram like crazy. I am not so worried about the science part because I am pretty good at science. I stink at vocab and I am not so good at math so those are the two parts I am worried about. I have around 2 weeks left to study, anyone have any idea what I should put the emphasis on??

Thanx!!!
