Anyone taken the NLN recently?

I was wondering what the math emphasis. I would imagine it emphasized on measurements and the like, is this correct? Also, any insight into the exam would be greatly appreciated. :D

I am taking it on paper. I hope I do well. I'm taking it tomorrow at 4:30. I'll let you know how it goes after. Thanx for all the info!!!!!!:) I really appreciate it!

Just remember you'll feel like you did worse than you did. Everyone says that. Just breather and relax. After tonight no more studying!

It's true what Robin writes Shana. I certainly felt like I bombed the thing but I did pretty decent. I think you will do fine. Don't worry and good luck.

I can't tell you how I did, but I can tell you i feel horrible about the science section.

There was a much greater emphasis on my test on the electronics and physics aspects, which I felt the NLN review guide didn't really cover. Things like circuits and resistance, efficiency of machines, etc. I was scoring a steady 88-95% using the review guides software, and walked out of that science test with over 15 questions at which I Had to take COMPLETE stabs in the dark.

I was also surprised - my exam was 80 questions verbal, 60 math and 80 science. All the preperations materials said 60/40/60.

I won't get my results for a week or so, but was dissapointed in the preparation I recieved from the NLN review guide.

Although, I have been out of high school (chem, physics, and math) for over 15 years now.

Best of luck to everyone taking this exam!

I feel the exact same way. I feel like the review book did not prepare me at all. There was not nearly enough time for the math section, and the science was much much harder than what I was expecting. I felt prepared going in, and now I feel horrible. I wasted so much effort studying, and it barely helped me on the exam. Also when did they change it to 80/60/80??? I didn't like that!!!!! Now I am so nervous about getting in to school

I too agree with you guys, I went into the exam with the belief of atleast scoring in the 80% percentile, but after taking the exam, I now have to rethink about applying to a few more schools. The science part was full of physics and chemistry questions, which were not covered in the guide. The math wasn't incredibly hard, but I ran out of time leaving close to 5 questions unanswered. I am now very worried as PBISN is my top choice and I feel like I may not get in :o.

I felt I bombed the Science and it was my highest score at 97. the do not count all the questions, some are test questions.

The science was difficult, and like Robin I also felt I bombed it. But in fact I did quite well. Don't worry so much, even if you didn't do as well as you expected remember that Nursing schools consider many factors.

Hi Everyone.

The comment about nursing schools considering many factors. I wish that were true about all of them. The school I am trying to get into only considers your NLN score. The top 60 scores get in each semester. I took my test Dec 16, 2008. Composite score 112 and percentile 78:cry: Not to discourage anybody. I am definitely going to study harder and try harder. I will have plenty of time since I have to wait 6 months before I can take the test again.

I am sorry to hear that.don't give up!! Are there other schools in your area that you can apply to while you are waiting?

Thanks robinrene112! I've looked at other schools in my area and they look at the NLN test score and your science class grades, but they consider indistrict students first. All of the biology classes that I have taken I have gotten B's in. I only need Micro now. I have a plan! I am going to study really hard and retake the NLN in the summer, get my CNA license this summer also, apply to the nursing program for Spring 2010 in the fall, and take Micro in the fall.

I'm taking the NLN tmrw and I'm suppppper nervous!

I have a 3.75 GPA going in and i'm wondering how everyone else has done so far...I'm applying to Hunter College in NYC.

In the verbal section can we go back and look at the passages when we answer the reading comprehensions?

Any tips for would be greatly appreciated! :)
