Anyone successfully challenge the boards?

Published

I have a degree in respiratory therapy, yet am having a hard time finding a job. I am working as a cna, going on my 7th year and I was hoping rt would be my next step up....unfortunately it's not working that way and I am considering challenging the boards via method 3.

Has anyone successfully done this? What tips do you have?

No, we aren't taking things out of context

What experience did you have with California method 3?

No, I didn't say I never worked as an RT. I said I was having a hard time finding a job. I started out in Nevada and then moved to California after I had a baby. There are no rt jobs even remotely in my area. That doesn't say I never worked as one, it just says I'm having trouble finding a job and not currently working as one. Curb your assumption.

Also, I didn't say I was an rt when OR that I was educating on the privy parts. I simply said I stopped a new grad rn from tearing an old woman's privy parts with a catheter. It's not out of my scope of practice to stop someone from hurting someone else.

Also, do you guys think RTS don't take any general ed? No anat/phys, bio, chem, etc? You think it's a quick diagram of the lungs and that's it? You are mistaken. An RT takes the same anatomy a nurse does. Again, you're taking things out of context, assuming, and belittling because "you're a nurse, that's why." Lol.

No one said y'all just studied a quick diagram of the lungs. Your story keeps changing and I am just responding with the different info that's been given. Again, that happens on a public forum.

Answer my questions. I have asked many questions in which you dip, dive & dodge. You clearly have a reason in which you don't answer them.

ETA: No one on this post has any info for you. I think it's time to put this to rest instead of being so angry. Maybe there is a reason no one has answers for you.

No, we aren't taking things out of context, we are taken what we are given.

Who is belittling who now? Bolding mine.

Once again, were you an RT or a CNA when you educated & taught the RNs & doctors? I'm gonna guess a CNA & say you were out of your scope of practice.

This is what I'm talking about:

Right, can you not recognize a figure of speech? To coach someone through something is not a negative thing. If I've seen it 10000000 times and it's their first time yes I can tell them they are doing it right. And my supervisor would send me into rooms with new grads to help for this reason. Helping someone is not a negative. It's not out of my scope of practice. That's my job. And I didn't say I educated as a cna. I simply said I educated, you assumed cna so you'd have more to whine about. Yes I have stopped rns from making mistakes, again my job. Perhaps you should research Nevada hospital scopes of practice before you comment further. Also consider cross training, floating and the change in scope of practice among departments. I was not a nursing home cna.....the scope of practice is drastically different

My "story keeps changing" because this wasn't intended to be a story about my life....it was a post asking for experiences people have had with method 3. So clearly I didn't post every detail of my work/life experiences. That is irrelevant to this post. I simply asked if anyone had insight but then the keyboard warriors took over *sigh*

What are you talking about? For one, I'm not angry at all lol. For two, I've received a few private messages so I am getting answers lol. And for three, why are you asking me questions on a post asking to hear about method 3 experiences? I didn't ask to play 21 questions, no questions are relevant to the post, the purpose of the post was: does anyone have experiences with method 3 they can share.

Again, you only told us you lived in CA. Sorry I'm not psychic. Once again you also never told us when you worked as an RT. Your story keeps changing. If you want us to know everything then tell us everything from the beginning, not bits & pieces throughout.

Coaching is not negative but not when it's out of the scope of practice. The scope of practice might be different in nursing homes vs. hospitals but you still can't tell a doctor or nurse what to do as a CNA.

Because you would say one thing but then you say completely different things. You say you you couldn't get a job as an RT but then jump down our throats because we didn't know you worked in a different state as an RT. How are we suppose to know anything when you don't bring it up to begin with? Maybe if you started out with the truth, we wouldn't have to ask so many questions.

You opened yourself up to the questioning of the public as soon as you posted the topic. You can try to reason with yourself that no question is relevant but they all are.

Right, and the reason I didn't disclose all of this information is that it has nothing to do with the question that I asked.

Did you challenge the California board via method 3? No? Okay. End of discussion. Did you challenge the California board via method 3? Yes? Do tell.

My life story has no relevance. I do not need to defend my education, work ethic, work experience, locations, lifestyle, place of residence, or reasoning. My question simply was that if anyone had insight, would they care to share it. That's it.

Again I'll ask you: do you have experience with California method 3? (You don't need to answer because I know you dont) there....that's it. Lol

If this is how you act when other people give you their opinion, I have to say I would vote against you becoming a nurse. You will have to put up with so much worse as a nurse & you can't throw temper tantrums like you are throwing now. My two year old behaves better than this.

You opened yourself up to the court of public opinion as soon as you posted this. You can't control who posts & when.

If this is how you act when other people give you their opinion, I have to say I would vote against you becoming a nurse. You will have to put up with so much worse in the nursing field.

You should spend less time judging text as "the way you act". You don't know how I act, you can't see me. You are reading text and taking it your own way and then turning it around on me. I'm completely calm, I'm not angry, I'm literally smiling and laughing as I read these responses.

Look, if you don't even live in California and know nothing about method 3, you really could have saved yourself all this trouble lol. I'm just curious to hear people's stories about their experience. I'm not trying to be interrogated by a stranger on a forum lol. My threads question was basic.

"I am considering challenging the boards via method 3.

Has anyone successfully done this? What tips do you have?"

Simple lol
