Anyone successfully challenge the boards?

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I have a degree in respiratory therapy, yet am having a hard time finding a job. I am working as a cna, going on my 7th year and I was hoping rt would be my next step up....unfortunately it's not working that way and I am considering challenging the boards via method 3.

Has anyone successfully done this? What tips do you have?

BUT, as I stated earlier, I have the majority of my courses done anyhow. So with my license I absolutely could do a bridge program since I do have the prerequisite courses done for the local bridge program.

So you've been in a nursing program?

so you've been in a nursing program?

Yes I have. I completed most of it but became a high risk pregnancy and had to drop. When my first child was one month old I decided I'd rather do RT and started RT school.

I pick and choose because most of the content is irrelevant to me. Also, your opinion or belief is not in any way relevant to my situation. I don't even know why you are continually responding...I'm not sure what you think you're contributing?

Because I asked a question & would like it to be answered but because you think you're better than all of us nurses, we're not worth responding. Once again, I respond because I can.

So if you only have theory classes left to take and you want to be a nurse, why not just finish the theory classes?

Also I'm not going to go back and find the post but to the person who asked what if I wanted to be an RN someday, just to clarify....not all lvn programs transfer credit. You get a license, but due to accreditation or the type of course your classes are not always transferred. I know a girl in an lvn-rn bridge program who had none of her courses transfer. That just means she takes them again.

But that goes for any program, not just nursing. Not all programs are the same, they don't have the same courses so of course credits won't transfer.

There's a frequent poster (psu_213) who became an LVN in California by challenging the board using previous military medic experience. He completed an LPN-to-RN bridge program in Wisconsin and now works as an RN in the upper Midwest.

I get that one, because military medic experience is comparable to nursing clinicals ( actually I would imagine even more hands on). I could feel comfortable with someone being able to utilize that life experience into a nursing role.

Respiratory Therapy + CNA, not so much.

I explained this earlier.

I live remotely and the programs all have waiting lists that are at least 3 years. They won't allow me to take courses without being in the program and I don't want to wait 3 years to wait until a class is available. Also, I'm in another degree program atm.

I would let a military medic who challenged the NCLEX work on me because they have seen & done things nurses have not.

Well if you want to finish just sign up & wait, what harm can come to that?

I never said I thought I was better than any nurses....you are going your own way with that one. You are grilling me, asking questions that don't have to do with my post, and picking apart my answers all for the sake of arguing. You aren't contributing anything to the original purpose of this post and I do not care about your questions. Please move on. Irrelevant.

Clearly.

No, I asked a question that actually had everything to do with your post. You are acting like you are better than nurses when you, as a CNA, teach other nurses how to do things that are out of your scope. If I had a CNA do that to me, I would write that CNA up in a hot minute. Nothing I am posting is irrelevant, as much as you want it to be.
