Anyone starting MSN at WGU

Nursing Students Western Governors

Published

I'm starting Western Governors in December. Looking for others who are also going to be doing BSN to MSN in Education. I'm a serious student and would like to talk to other like minded people. Excited to get started!

Specializes in Outpatient/Clinic, ClinDoc.

My mentors were both awesome and didn't care what order I did things, but I think this new directive is newer than you or I, Klone. Seems to be last month or two that everyone is complaining about it. It may also be from the newer mentors - my two mentors have been there forever and let me do what I wanted. Ah well, no biggie - as long as they don't hold anyone back I suppose it doesn't matter that much.

I did interview for a mentor position recently, but sadly was not acceptable. I'm curious if I would have had to hold the line on class order.

I am starting MSN (M&L) on Nov,1st! yeey!

I guess I may have to change my original post. I just got an email that is suspending NC enrollment for certain programs and mine is included. Hopefully the NCBON and WGU come to some kind of resolution before December, I really just want to get started:(

Specializes in Nephrology.

I can't imagine why their program has anything to do with the NCBON. If you were in a prelicensure program that would make perfect sense, but previously you stated you were starting a masters program with no license given. There must be more to the story.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

The NC BON has no authority to suspend enrollments.

I have a little more information now. You guys are correct it is not the NCBON, per my enrollment counselor it is the state/governor that is trying to bring to NC; just like Indiana, Texas, Washington, Tennessee and Missouri did in previous years. While the state and school finalize things, enrollment is being suspended for any program that requires 'field experience' until approval is granted. She said that in 2013 it took about 6 months for TN to begin re-enrolling students.

Sounds like some eastern governors want in on the action ;) They'll need to change the school's name to Governor's Univerisity.

I too am looking forward to starting in December. This will be my first time online experience so I'm excited and anxious at same time. Definitely looking for study buddies.:)

Hi 704RN2MSN, Do you plan on waiting it out or have you applied elsewhere? Also, did you get your BSN at and wanted to transition into the MSN program?
