Anyone resign due to hostile work environment?

Has anyone else here decided to resign rather than continue working in a hostile work environment due to physician "chaos creating" or control issues?

I'd like to hear your story!

"Anyone resign due to hostile work environment? "

Several times. But then again I was usually the most hostile one.

Betcha most of us can recall a particularly hostile environment if we've been in practice awhile. Oppressed groups of people can begin to behave in very dysfunctional ways. I think we see this very clearly in nursing.

I had a similar situation. I was sick of the BS of a lot of my coworkers and of the whole political situation (contract negotiation strife that caused a lot of rudeness). I felt completely unvalued and disrespected by a lot of people. So, I left and like where I am now for the most part. I still can't stand to listen to them whine about the nursing shortage when they have no one to blame but themselves.

I have to say, I rarely have problems with docs. Especially where I am now, the docs are absolutely great. There are a few nurses I would rather avoid, but that's life.

Yes, just recently. The male chauvinist, incompetent, non-English speaking doctor was badgering me because he didn't know what to do. So I told him to shut up. He hung up on me.

I had, obviously, already made the decision not to work there anymore. Tee, hee.

BRAVO! Oops didn't mean that..I meant to say...YOU GO GURL... ?

yes but because of an evil bully as my charge nurse, the power went to her head i think n she took it out on us underlings. i resorted to screaming at her one day b4 walking out and going of sick(again).

Due to physician control? It was a contributing factor once. You curse at the nurse, you will only have meek nurses to work with. If you're SUCH an awesome doctor that you can anticipate and control EVERY possible complication, then meek nurses might be OK. But if you're human and can't control the universe, you should respect the people you're supposed to work "with."

Due to controlling, hostile, obnoxious, petty nurse coworkers? Several times!

And will again on Monday- can't WAIT!!!? ?

Heh heh....

I have to laugh. I now work one day a week at my hospital. In the last 6 months we have had 2 nurses and one aide have to leave the floor and go down to ER for chest pain. DX-anxiety. Some co-workers think it is FUN to be dysFUNctional. Management keeps the bullies because they can be counted on to be at work when their scheduled, new nurses usually last a few months and we have agency nurses who walk out before the first hour is up.

At the start of each shift I hear the announcer say " LET THE GAMES BEGIN." lol

Not exactly resign, have walked out at end of shift never to return.

I worked agency for this place once with a charge nurse and another staff nurse. I had to ask where some items were about 3 times in an entire 12 hour shift. And believe me, I try to find things on my own first before asking. Each time I would ask the charge nurse where something was, she acted like her lips were glued shut and pointed in the general direction. And each time, she would give the other nurse a look, and they would snicker with eachother like a couple of five year olds. Needless to say, I never went back there. And my agency always begged me to go there because they were always short, and nobody wanted to work there. Do you think they get it yet? Probably not.

There are days as a traveler that I think, "Thank G-d that I do not work here permanently"
