Anyone NOT taking NCLEX prep course?

Published

I am not taking Kaplan that my hospital offers because they are running the course in late Jan to early Feb and I want to take my boards in early Jan ( or as soon as I get my ATT).

I am , however, a nervous wreck. I did very well in school and scored exit ATI 99% chance of passing NCLEX. I have been doing 150 questions every day on Saunders and Lippincott discs and scoring in the 80's and low 90's each time...but still I am a nervous wreck! Plus I sure wish those discs included more priority questions, choose all that applies, etc etc...instead of straight up 4 answers. Does anyone know of a good disc or book that includes a lot of those?

Anyone else in the same boat?

I do plan on telling NO ONE when I take the exam. I dont need that pressure..haha. I will just sign up, take it, and then spread the news later when I get it ..which hopefully is good news!

Review for RN or LVN? My school had some people come in to talk about their prep courses... some offereing from $300-1200!!! I went to Barnes and Noble and started looking through all of their books, studying... and quite frankly Im not wasting my time hoping that a class will pass me.. I have faith in my own self and self discipline to study on my own ... besides, in my opinion theres a certain technique of eliminating and I already read all of those FREE @ barnes and noble! Im a single mom and it will be a year until I pay off all my debt from school so I will find my own gratification passing on my own ... I think its wayyy too much money ....

I'm not planning on taking a review course. I didn't study for the HESI, just so I would have some idea of where I stood as a baseline and got close to 1000 so I think I'll be ok if I review on my own. Plus, I remember back when I took an SAT review course in HS and got a minimal score increase, so I don't think these prep classes are for me.

My hospital reimburses up to $350 for review courses, which is the cost of the Hurst review that usually comes to town after each graduating class. On my ATI exam, I got a 98% chance of passing on my first try, but because my hospital will reimburse review courses, I went ahead and subscribed to the 3 week online course at learningext.com. While I'm not finding a majority of the review content helpful, the course includes a lot of practice questions, including alternate item quizzes (SATA) and areas most people need more help with (delegation, priority, pharm). I find that I can sit at a computer and do practice questions all day, but I have no patience for review books...I hate doing the scoring myself and flipping to the back for answers.

winging it here

Hi all, this is my very 1st post, lol!

I am not taking a prep class. I personally don't have the money or the time to take off of work.

Also, I have heard form so many people that they felt like it was a waste of time and money.

I have purchased the Saunders review book which I have only heard great things about and I plan on doing a little every night.

I feel like why did I pay all this money to go to school to still have to pay another $350-$500 more for what school was suppose to prepare me for.

Plus, I have God on my side!

Good Luck all, I'm still waiting for my ATT.

I guess I didn't need a class after all cuz I found out this morning that I passed!

I used Saunder's review and the Memory Notebook of Nursing: Pharmacology and Diagnostics.

Good luck future NCLEX takers...tonight I am gonna be like this
