Anyone going to PHCC (Pasco-Hernando Community College) for pre-req's or NS?

Published

I am finishing up my pre-req's and would love to see if anyone is in the same boat as I am or even in nursing school. Any advice would be much appreciated! :D

Yay MJ :) I knew you were in. I counted you in my stats, lol. CONGRATS!!

Pasco, a 3.77 and an 88.8 teas is really great. I really think you will be fine, and there may not be consistency in the letter mailing (doubling up). I think you should try to hang in there before going worst case scenario just yet.

I got NOTHING today, except for really stressed out. I probably shortened my life span due to stress today. No lie. lol

We need to hang in there, give it some more time, and remember what is done, is done. Remind me of these words if I am freaking out due to rejection in the near future. ;)

As for the BT, I can't make it tomorrow, ladies. I would but I have a date (lmao--how weird is that...)...So count me in for next time!!

If you girls ever do get to meet me (and I hope we all get to meet IRL!! Both at orientation and lots before!!) I will be a dead giveaway because I am nearly 6 feet tall & quite thin. I don't fade into the crowd very well...:lol2:

4.0, 87.1, and still waiting...

Sorry I can't meet tomorrow night I promised my daughter I would take her to the rays game.

Does anyone know if the LPN program is just 2 semesters or does it include next summer as well?

I hope that everyone gets good news in the mail tomorrow, I know the waiting really stinks!

Longs - from what I can see, the LPN-bridge-RN route is A LOT more credit hours. If you take ONLY NUR classes (no micros, or English, etc) you need 42 hours for the RN program but 76 (!!!) for the LPN-bridge-RN.

Check the website where it lists the currcula for each program (RN, LPN, and bridge each) I'm still not sure how all that pans out.....

I am just trying to figure out how long it is start to finish for the LPN program, I have heard a year but I can't figure out if it is 2 or 3 semester and I have scoured the PHCC website without any luck.

I will only have 2 prereqs left, microbiology and a&p II, plus the RN transition core courses when it comes time for me the bridge.

This forum has made me anxious, and I didn't even apply this round haha... Congratulations to everyone who has heard so far. I was just wondering (I hope you can answer this hear and if this question is allowed... otherwise.. I'm sorry lol :) )

I am planning on applying in the Spring 2011 for the Fall class. Although, I will have one prereq left to take in the spring, which is Anatomy and Lab. Even though I don't need to, I am taking Pre and Elem. Algebra just because I want to feel confident taking the TEAS since it has been awhile since I've done any math and don't know HOW I passed the CPT :) .. So my question is can I apply for the fall (deadline at the end of May) even if I have just completed a prereq a few weeks prior? Is it enough time... I'm praying it is. I could take Anatomy in the fall to ensure I will be able to apply in May but, I really would like to take my refresher course.

I would looooovvvve any feedback, and if I shouldn't have posted this here... again, sorry :D

I finished A&P w/ lab this Spring and had plenty of time left to apply so no worries

FlBrowney; Another tall girl here 5' 11" to be exact it's great to have other tall folks around no offense to the shorter one but it make some of us feel better to see another tall person around from time to time.

Still waiting on my letter let these 4hrs go by fast at work.

I just heard from a friend of mine and she got her RN acceptance letter

with an 83.5 Teas and a 3.77 GPA!

Wow. Those scores are good but certainly the lowest we've seen (not judging, just sayin')...

Oy. I feel another stressful day coming on...

Yes, you can! And if you're looking for insight into someone who also took refresher courses, I managed to do fairly well on the TEAS :) I took Intermediate Algebra, however. Good luck to you!

And to all of those pending acceptance today........my fingers are crossed for you, and I can't wait to see :)

Christina started a new thread for those who have received their acceptances :) Linked above.

Jenn (hoping I get to post on the above thread soon!)

Here begins another day of waiting for me...hoping that RN acceptance shows! 88.8...3.77...Pasco resident...

Hey All congrats on getting in! So I got a PM from someone (you know who you are) but I can't PM back yet. So you need your CPR card to walk into clinicals so get it before classes start. On East campus they weren't real particular about shoes white all over (maybe a little colored icon or something). Some people had sneakers and others nurse mates...I don't think they are that particular. Stethoscopes get a good one... it is not the place to cut costs you need to hear the right stuff! Watches that can count seconds so you can do respiratory and heart rates. Mine had a black band and no-one ever said anything about it. Get your physical done ASAP as soon as your packet comes (after you send in your acceptance letter) because vaccine titers take some time to get back. You must have TB test and Proof of immunity to Varicella, Hep B, Measles, etc (by titer or vaccine) before clinicals start. Umm I am sure I missed a question, just let me know....Congrats to all again!:yeah:

Oh and when I applied last year they told us if two applicants had the same scores, gpas, residency they used reading score to break the tie. Now that was with the NET so maybe TEAS is different but FYI.
