Anyone going to Modesto Junior College?

I'm just curious! I'm just starting (at the ripe 'ol age of 35, LOL!) looking into a career in nursing. I've worked in hospitals and clinics doing medical transcription for years and years, and way back when used to be a pre-physical therapy major (I've taken chemistry, anatomy, biology...don't know if they would count, as it's been several years). I would be attending MJC for pre-reqs and (fiingers crossed) the nursing program eventually and I would really love to have a student's view, how difficult it is to get into the program, any general advice, etc.

Probably about a month after they say they will notify you... get used to it... it's the nature of the "beast".

Gees! haha, okay thanks!

Hi nrs209,

I have also applied to the LVN-RN program in May 2011 for Fall 2011. I wonder how long it will take for them to notify us?

When I dropped off my application at MJC the lady said we should here in July sometime. After 4 rejections at other schools I'm hoping that I get in MJC. This is the last school I'm waiting on... The waiting and wondering is so hard!

Hi JenApos,

I started applying to RN schools since fall of 2009 until now (about 1 and a half years) and got rejected 7 times in total! I, however, was accepted into the EVC nursing program. But I don't start until 2012. Because of the...long wait, I'm applying for nursing programs that starts this fall of 2011.

I hope we will hear the good news in the month July. Best of luck to you! ;)

In the Spring class there were at least 5 people who had applied 8 times to MJC before being accepted. Not to burst anyone's bubble. There were also a few who were accepted the very first time. You really need to have something going on so you can keep your sanity during the process.

Wow! That's a lot of times to apply. I hear all these stories and remind meyself not to get my hopes up...but I cant help being dissapointed getting those rejections. After 5 rejections this semesterI am learning to maintain a "thick skin".

Like appopyfield said above...I am glad I have other things going on while I wait. :)

The MJC website says that we should hear the first week of august! That seems so far away. I have been applying for RN programs sense 2007 and In 2009 I applied and was accepted into the LVN program at delta college. Sense then I have been applying for LVN-Rn and still havent got in. I am hoping I get in this time with modesto. Starting to loose hope:crying2:

Do any of you guys know if the LVN-RN selection process is going to be a random selection procedure?

It is random selection. Last time they had too many 3rd semester students fail that they didnt let any upgrade students in bacause they let them repeat

Well, I just called in yesterday and asked about my status in the LVN-RN program. Just realized I was missing out on one class (LVN-RN Transition course; NURS 259 I believe). So sadly, I am not qualify to enter the pool. But I did ask the lady how many LVNs applied. She told me a total of 23 people applied and that 2-3 people would be selected, but if luck comes around, 10 people could be selected.

I wish everyone the best of luck on being selected!

Also, I think the lady told me that another application period for the LVN-RN program will be held this September 2011 for Spring 2012. I hope I heard right and not imagining things :)

Well...Good luck! Good luck!! Good LUCK!!!
