I'm just curious! I'm just starting (at the ripe 'ol age of 35, LOL!) looking into a career in nursing. I've worked in hospitals and clinics doing medical transcription for years and years, and way back when used to be a pre-physical therapy major (I've taken chemistry, anatomy, biology...don't know if they would count, as it's been several years). I would be attending MJC for pre-reqs and (fiingers crossed) the nursing program eventually and I would really love to have a student's view, how difficult it is to get into the program, any general advice, etc.
Hi JenApos,
I started applying to RN schools since fall of 2009 until now (about 1 and a half years) and got rejected 7 times in total! I, however, was accepted into the EVC nursing program. But I don't start until 2012. Because of the...long wait, I'm applying for nursing programs that starts this fall of 2011.
I hope we will hear the good news in the month July. Best of luck to you!

Wow! That's a lot of times to apply. I hear all these stories and remind meyself not to get my hopes up...but I cant help being dissapointed getting those rejections. After 5 rejections this semesterI am learning to maintain a "thick skin".
Like appopyfield said above...I am glad I have other things going on while I wait. :)
The MJC website says that we should hear the first week of august! That seems so far away. I have been applying for RN programs sense 2007 and In 2009 I applied and was accepted into the LVN program at delta college. Sense then I have been applying for LVN-Rn and still havent got in. I am hoping I get in this time with modesto. Starting to loose hope:crying2:
Well, I just called in yesterday and asked about my status in the LVN-RN program. Just realized I was missing out on one class (LVN-RN Transition course; NURS 259 I believe). So sadly, I am not qualify to enter the pool. But I did ask the lady how many LVNs applied. She told me a total of 23 people applied and that 2-3 people would be selected, but if luck comes around, 10 people could be selected.
I wish everyone the best of luck on being selected!
Also, I think the lady told me that another application period for the LVN-RN program will be held this September 2011 for Spring 2012. I hope I heard right and not imagining things :)
Well...Good luck! Good luck!! Good LUCK!!!

Probably about a month after they say they will notify you... get used to it... it's the nature of the "beast".
