I'm just curious! I'm just starting (at the ripe 'ol age of 35, LOL!) looking into a career in nursing. I've worked in hospitals and clinics doing medical transcription for years and years, and way back when used to be a pre-physical therapy major (I've taken chemistry, anatomy, biology...don't know if they would count, as it's been several years). I would be attending MJC for pre-reqs and (fiingers crossed) the nursing program eventually and I would really love to have a student's view, how difficult it is to get into the program, any general advice, etc.
Hi emy912,
I see that did you graduate from the Lvn-Rn upgrade program at MJC. I'm going to be applying in May 2011 hoping to get in. I think I'm gonna need your input since you already went through their program. If you can email at nrs209atyahoo.com I would really appreciate it. Looking foward to hear from you. thnx
hey i just found this discussion board. it's helpful! i'm curious if anyone else has gotten anything regarding the BLS class because on the declaration of intent it said to list your first and second choice for which class. I put the 6th for my first choice and the 4th for my second but I never got anything confirming which day I should come. I'm assuming that it's the 6th since I didn't get anything. Now they're closed so I can't get ahold of anyone.
Sorry KerstinLeah, I didn't read this post until today. I hope you got a hold of someone by now. I signed up for the class on the 4th and I never heard back either. I thought I read on the form that you would only hear back from them if your class was full and they needed to notify you. See you tomorrow at orientation. :)
Hey guys I need your help! I purchased the wrong BLS student manual, i was wondering if there was anyway I could meet up with one of you tomorrow (Wednesday) to borrow the book!? I was reading on our packet of info that i will not be admitted into the class without the book .. I am pretty worried Please let me know..thank you in advance!
KatieKins007,
Don't stress over not having your book for the class because the instructors don't check to see if you have the book. They never even mentioned the book throughout the whole day. I think I can remember reading someones post and they had my same experience. I can still bring my book to tomorrow's orientation. It's not necessary, but I thought it was good to read it over before taking the class. Not sure if you will read this in time or how to find one another tomorrow. . .
Hello everyone! Sorry to just jump into the conversation. Congrats to all who are now in the program for Spring 2011. Just looking for some friends in 1st semester now. I will be joining you in the Fall for 2nd semester after being gone for a year because I had a baby in Nov. It would be great to get to know some of you before I return in the Fall. Plus if anyone has any questions, I finished 1st semester last April and have lots of good info from experience, just ask!
Dklewis1,
So glad you will be joining us. The fact that you survived first semester gives me hope! :) If you notice, this thread has been pretty quiet since we all started. I still don't know who some of the other people are. I've probably met them in class but don't know who's on here. You are going to be a good source of information for us this semester! Thanks for offering. Let me know if you want to exchange emails.
Seriously, 1st semester is overwhelming, but very doable! Just take it one day at a time and you will do good. Like I said, any questions just ask. Yes let's exchange e-mails....I'm just not sure how to do that! I don't think I can send a private message but here's my e-mail and then you can just e-mail me if you'd like. It's [email protected]
It would be great to know at least 1 person when I return. :) Oh and I'm on facebook too if you'd like to add me.

I graduated from MJC two years ago & have 2 size small uniform tops. The last semester still uses the same uniform tops so hopefully, they haven't change to a new style. If someone needs it, please send me a message.
